"Sargeant York" starring Gary Cooper is a great flick, I definitely recommend it.    Hollywood takes its fair share of liberties but it's a very good film nonetheless about one of the greatest military heroes of all time.

Mancini, We were owned by the Japanese??? Pearl Harbor is what you bring as an argument??  You need to learn a little about WW2 and what we did to the Japanese.  News Flash: we kicked them off every island in the Pacific for the most part and nuked their homeland and made them unconditionally surrender.  That is far from being "owned"
As for the comment I made about speaking Japanese or German, if you dont think for one minute that either one of those countries wouldnt have invaded and defeated Canada's weak army in the 40s you are an idiot and there is no point in talking to your dumb a** any longer.  Learn your history becuas eobviously you have no clue about what happened in the world in the late 3os through 1945.

BHDAUI Well said. The Japanese attacked us in 1941 forcing us into the war. Due to our unselfishness we agreed it was best to take on Germany first as they were a greater threat militarily. By 1945 when the the European war was winding down, Churchill wanted to get the British fleet involved in the Pacific to grab the glory as you accused us in WW1. The American navy was so vast and powerful that we told them no thanks. They were going to be in the way. We eventually let them patrol the Taiwan Straight while we took out Iwo jima and Okinawa. Google Murderer's Row War in the Pacific and see just how powerful we were. 122 aircraft carriers! How many Canadian carriers?

ShoeShineBoy I loved Sgt. York. Our wise Canadian had never heard of him. I didn't see your retort to the follow up I put up about the bitchy girl from KK1. Hope you had a good weekend.

Olemiss fan, obviously you know your history as well.  I have been a WW2 buff since my childhood.  That time period and war completely changed the landscape of the world and directly led to the current world "order" and how we live today.  Some people just dont get it or havent taken the time to learn about it.  The reason the US is where it is today is because of what our country and military did in the 40s.  If they hadnt won that war the world would be a much different place.  Canadians tend to exaggerate what they did in WW2.  Their country really did nothing significant.  Without their contributions the war would have still ended the same way.  I dont make it a habit to bash Canada or Canadians but it seems like so many of them want to insult the US and claim that they live in some kind of utopia.  What they fail to recognize is their country's existence is a direct result of sharing a border with the US and being an ally of OURS.  We dont need them to exist, they need us.  Our economy that they like to bash really does make the world turn.  If the US economy goes down, the rest of the worlds does as well.  While they have a huge country in size, they have the 60th largest military in world.  Why is that you might ask?  Its because they know we are just south of them and will protect them if something happens.  They get to put money that would otherwise go into defense spending into other endeavors.  Their military is closer to California's national guard than our military in size.  You're welcome Canada.  Bottom line is this you ungrateful Canucks, talk all you want about how great your country is, deep down you know who's your daddy.  No one asks your opinion of what to do or not do in international affairs, you simply aren't that important when it comes to the grand scheme of things.  Leave policing of the world to the country who knows how to do it best.(we've had lots of practice since 1945) Do us all a favor here in the U.S.; stay in Canada and keep telling yourselves how great it is, all of us know better.

Gabriel Princip killed Franz Ferdinand. Every country was geared up for war. A country should always be ready to go to war. Why would the Germans need to kill the King of their ally if they wanted to go to war? Germany was always ready to" rock". Did you ever read "The Guns of August"? Didn't think so.
