packisback, Rangers have so much money is because like NJBrodeur said, they didn't bring back any of their own FA's accept for Rosy. They let Jagr, Avery, Shanny, Straka, Mara and Malik all go and traded Backman and Tyutin. They are around 10 mil under the cap but still have to resign some of their restricted FA's like Dawes, Fritsche and Sjostrom. This is why I was upset when the Devils re-signed so many of their own FA's earlier in the week. Salvador and Pando took up 5.4 mil in cap space........Getting back to trades, I heard Buffalo wants to move 28 yr old Maxim Afinogenov for a defenseman and they probably can't get any big-name (Boyle or Schneider) ones for him, how about we offer them White straight up. Maxim makes 3.5 mil to Whites 3 mil but Maxim's in his last year of his contract. Two things we get - first - we get out of White's long term deal (4 years left) Second - we add another foward to our team so we enough players (maybe make Gionta or others available) to make a trade with another team for a defenceman plus Maxim should have a bounce back year after his injury (slight groin tear) last year. It's a high reward low risk trade, the ones Lou likes because for some reason it doesn't work out next year we let Maxim walk (FA) and still clear some much needed cap room..

Gambi....I dont think in professional sports especially hockey you can say ''our team is set '' and not constantly keep your eyes open and look to upgrade and move salary (in this cap conscious age) and rid the Devils of some paychecks that are financial handcuffs. With that said I am still wondering why Lou didnt sign just either Pando or Holik paying Salvador half and taking that remaining money and going after a puck moving defenseman. Then I thought about it and almost forgot about Olli Malmivaara the 26 year old.Is that where Lou sees the the Offense coming from??Could be and that might be what completes the defense(unless of course a trade).......Your Ideas are plentiful, thoughtful and I wont raise an uproar over you wanting to deal Langenbrunner, but not every Devils fan might do that. The deals you set up sound great on paper and I am certain it could help.Do you really Think Lou is still plotting and something else and big is coming???....Also Yes The the Rangers did get better and hey Sather deserves some credit.Though adding good names on paper(the way the Yankees and Cowboys do every year) doesnt bring about championships, you still have to play the game and get the comraderie and chemistry that paper lineups and signings dont initially show or tell.I think Jagr wants to play in the NHL why wouldnt he have taken the big money already from the Russian team??He said he likes NY....you would have to trade players basically salary dumping and taking nearly nothing back to facilitate any such move....question is would Lou do it and who would help him???

LOU'S DONE......I WOULD BE SURPRISED IF LOU DID ANYTHING ELSE.....ONCE AGAIN THE Rangers GOT BETTER. I CAN'Y BELIEVE SOME OF THE GUYS THEY GOT. I'M A SEASON TICKET HOLDER AND AGAIN I'M SHAKING MY HEAD. NO WONDER WHY THEY LOWERED THIER SEASON TICKET PRICES.

I think the only critique you can make on Lou is he rewards guys like Salvador with too much money.Whatever happened to ''Hard Bargain'' Lou where he use to tell guys in the early 90's take it or leave it!!!! Why do we repay in house guys like salvador(Whom I will take slavador but for the money wasnt there equal talent that would have signed for less???)...soo much to stay.

Eagle, my buddy, unfortunately Olli Malmivaara can't help us since he signed with a european team earlier in the year and Jagr just signed with Avangard Osmk of Russia! I know my ideas are sometimes crazy (ok, most of the time) but if I'm Lou, I'm looking under every rock, opening every door to try and make our team better. I just hope Lou realizes this team still needs pieces to be a "real" contender here. You know most Devils fans are happy so far on whats going on but I saw one good move (Rolston) after three bad ones (Salvador 2.9, Pando 2.5, Holik -2.5). I like Holik but 2.5 mil for a forth liner is way too much. Also to answer your question, I do think Lou is looking for a trading partner now and I believe with 8 defenseman already signed, some have to go to bring in another one (hopefully a Boyle or Ohlund) who would help more. This is why logically Colin White would HAVE to go because he makes 3 mil a year and we need to clear some cap space plus maybe another defenseman (Greene?) and/or a foward. The players involved in the trades will depend on how Lou goes about it. Thats why I posted different ideas on how Lou can go about it. I still like the idea of going after Maxim Afinogenov with Colin White because then it makes Gionta expendable. Use him with a few others (Greene/Zajac) and try to get Ohlund (he's more likely since he makes only 3.5 mil and Vancouver needs offensive help bad) or Boyle (makes over 6mil). Eagle, we still need more bro!!!

Gambi My fault I didnt realize Olli had a deal signed with another team,I was hoping he would be a diamond in the rough.Oh well.On Jagr that Russian team was offering alot more then the Rangers or any other team for that matter would pay him.No surprise there. On adding more do you mean another scoring forward? On Colin White I am a huge White fan but he makes entirely too much for just being a defensive defenseman, same as Salvador.I think thats where the Devils are short.Gambi your ideas are inventive and creative and this isnt to slam Lou but sometimes thats what you need some inventive ideas.Though any more free space certainly now requires a trade partner.JUst think last season some didnt pick the Flyers to make the playoffs, yet some of the offseason moves panned out and they made it to the conference finals, anything can happen.Anyway I think the key guys to move are white and gionta, simply we have enough whites and Giuonta may do better out West.We wil
