And if it's bad Don't let it get you down, you can take it. And if it hurts Don't let them see you cry, you can take it.

Hold Your Head Up - Argent

Hello slip. Great, great song!
I'll leave that Police/Sting question out there for the other 2 songs.

In the meantime, try these lyrics from the 60's:

Gonna have fun in the city,
Be with my girl she's so pretty,
She looks fine tonight,
She is out of sight to me,
Tonight....I spend my bread,
Tonight...I lose my head,

Friday on My Mind - the Easybeats. Classic 60s garage stuff. Hit the charts as we speak in '67

There is a tie-in with ACDC. The Easybeats were from Australia, and their rhthym guitarist George Young, is Angus's older brother.

Now here's something "patriotic" for July 4.

Once the religious, the hunted and weary

Chasing the promise of freedom and hope

Came to this country to build a new vision

Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope

Hello Rhino. One of the two other songs we have talked about before and is one of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite albums:

STING - SEVEN DAYS

One other instance of the use of this lyric comes from an album that I include in any ten best list. For a little perspective Rhino, on the way to my second wedding to a woman I knew I shouldn't marry on a day when every plan we had made had gone wrong, including my car breaking down on the X-way while my soon to be wife was driving it(this is 1983, before cellphones, and I took my wife her car and I was to wait in the 95 degree heat of August for AAA and then get my best man to drive me to the wedding. I later found out that the reason I had to wait in the heat for three hours for AAA to show up was that now ex-wife got so distracted getting ready for the wedding that she forgot to call AAA for over 2 hours!!!)
Anyway, after a couple more mishaps that afternoon, I'm finally driving myself to the church in my to be wife's car enjoying a smoke and listening to side 2 of Synchronisity, which is all about Sting's recent divorce, both from his first wife and soon to be ex band members. Now I swear this is actual truth. I'm sitting at the red light of the intersection that I turn on to get to the church and I'm listening to "Wrapped Around Your Finger" meaning I've just finished listening to "Every Breath You Take" and "King of Pain." I literally had a very difficult time deciding AT THIS EXACT MOMENT whether I should take a left(which would take me to the church)  or a right and ditch the whole wedding. I'm not sure, but I swear that I think I set through one cycle of the light(I was in a left turn lane with no one behind me) with my hands shaking trying to make up my mind. I might still be sitting there had a car not pulled up behind me before the next cycle of the light. One thing I can say for certain in retrospect, the left turn I finally made was not THE RIGHT TURN!!!

THE POLICE - O MY GOD   from synchronisity.

I do have 2 of the three albums, and I have listened to "Ghost in the Machine"  many, many times. Trivia note  - what else is that album title the title to?

Fan, that's good stuff about the Police. There's a rock station that plays live cuts from 9-10 p.m. and it's amazing that there are only three guys playing. The sound is rich and full, and Stewart Copeland is an amazing drummer.

What's weird though is that if I'm not mistaken, Copeland played drums with Ray Manzarek and Robby Kreiger who, along with a singer I can't remember, went touring as a reconstituted Doors lineup a few years ago. John Densmore wanted no part of it.

Hi all.

Once the religious, the hunted and weary

Chasing the promise of freedom and hope

Came to this country to build a new vision

Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope

Monster - Steppenwolf

Try this:

Kinda love you got
Knock me off my feet
Let it all hang out
Oh, let it all hang out.
And you know
I'm so wired-up
Don't need no coffee in my cup

Van Morrison - Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven While You're Smiling) One of my karaoke favorites. Gets the crowd going, especially in the beginning with the deh-deh-deh-dep deh-deh-deh-deh-dep-

I seen a girl on a one-way corridor, stealing down a wrong way street

For all the world like an urban torrreador, she had heels on her feet

Hey Rhino, remember the famous pianist who laid down tracks on this song
