Forget about Brook Lopez coming back next year.  He's currently projected as the 5 pick in the draft.  Losing Fred Washington and Taj Finger will also hurt, but let's finish this year first.

This year's team will give any team trouble.  They play helacious D and rebound with the best.  Lopez has dominated offensively in recent games, and until teams figure out how to contain him, he will take the Cardinal a long way.

I think Stanford can sneak into the sweet 16, but that's it.  They have average point guard play, and that usually means a quick exit in the tourney.  Even Goods isn't shooting three's consistently, and Shiller can't defend most guards so he's a defensive liability.  Hill all but disappeared offensively until Saturday's game.  They commit 15+ turnovers routinely, they can't make free throws (~60% as a team!), and they have only one consistent scorer in B Lopez.   Trent has really fallen short on recruiting - particularly at point guard.   Remember, if Montgomery hadn't left, Bobby Frasor (currently backup PG at UNC behind Ty Lawson!) would be our PG now.   We don't have a true PG in the incoming class either!  Also, Trent didn't even recruit the Lopez's  to Stanford,  they walked into his office and committed on their own.   He needs serious help recruiting for us to improve.  I think the potential is there for a title next year, but only if B Lopez stays and we get more help at point, and that is unlikely.
