Alright, time to play teacher and start handing out some grades. How do you think the other teams in the division did this off-season so far. I want everyone to list who did the best, worst and who will give us the most trouble for a potential division crown. The sad part for me is I am not overly excited about our offseason moves and yet I still think we did the most by far to improve our team. For the most part the only thing any other team in the division did was move backwards and this makes me happy. I still think Seattle will be the team to beat because they had the least need but if we learn to block them this year and Martz's system catches on quickly I think we could challenge for the division. Heres hoping we stay a little more healthy this year so we can make the sort of push for the playoffs that most of us thought we would be making last year.

The future of the 49ers rests on our QBs (or lack there of).....regardless of any other moves we made, if we can't find a decent QB we will continue to suck and suck big time.  No QB not only means low scoring, but it also means poor clock management so our improved defense will still look horrible.

As out QB goes, so goes the team.....here's to hoping that Martz has a magical pill for Alex Smith!

id say the niners are gonna take our division- if any team worries me its arizona- although they didnt do much with free agency they are still kinda like the niners in that they are young and building. we can take seattle anytime anywhere. draft grades though would be 49ers B+

      &nbs p;      &n bsp; arizona D

      &nbs p;      &n bsp; Rams C-

      &nbs p;      &n bsp; seattle  C

the niners could be an A if they just would get some depth on the line- but we did alote better than i thought we would so i cant complain. Justine Smith is a beast-bruce will pay off bigtime and bryant jhonson is a future stud, DeShaun Foster will make a statment when gore is resting teams will still be pounded. i love what they have done. i wish they would get that Patriots linebacker  Rosevelt Colvin, i know he is 30 but he has 3 or 4 more good years in him. Plus he can line up as DE or OLB and thats exactly what we need for our hybrid 3-4 4-3. but ill just keep wishing, we did good though

Seattle is interesting, it helped itself by resigning certain players and bringing in Mike Wahle, franchising Marcus Trufant but at the same time lost there game winner in Josh Brown, and the RB situation has not been solved, Alexander is still the best on the list and thats not a positive thing. Ariz has done virtually nothing so far, in fact I can't even remember what they have done..they lost Calvin Pace, but resigned carlos dansby, and brought in Travis LaBoy. Oh and thier #3 wr to help when there starts are hurt is now a niner. so I pick them as #4 on the list.  St. Louis is intriguing to me, especially if they get Jake Long in the draft, there kicker retires, what they do? steal josh brown from seattle. I like the signing of Trent Green he comes back to retire in st. louis but gives bulger some protection.  Although they did minimal in the offseason, they really had nothing to do.. a healthy Rams will win the division next year.

As for the niners, of course they were great in the offseason and i am optomistic for the wild card or nfc west title, time will only tell.

offseason grades so far:

Ariz Cardinals: D

St. Louis Rams: C-

San Fran: B+

Seattle: C

I heard a lot of whining (Whiner fans living up to a name I hate) because the Niners didn't go for more glamour positions in the draft. I like that the Niners went for positions of need. Kentwan Balmer can be a nice addition if he gives the effort. I have to believe the Niners saw something in him when they coached him in the Senior bowl. Apparently Martz preferred Nolan take Chilo Rachal instead of a receiver with the second pick.

Qb's have a tendency to look much better and generally have better stats when they not on their butts. All the sure handed receivers in the world don't amount to anything if the QB has no time to throw regardless of how quick a release he has.

My biased draft Grades are:

Niners B+

Cardinals C

Seahawks C

Rams C

Sorry guys but after the draft.. the niners got maybe a B because they filled the right holes.. but not necessaarilly with starters.. The Rams by far are the winners of this years draft.. two words.. Chris Long! that combined with other guys on there o-line and other positions will make it so like I have already stated... they will win the NFC West.. Carriker and Long on the d-line with Leonard Little will be trouble, a healthy Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson will be great.  As long as Seattle losses I will be happy.

You fail to realize that we have Mike Martz as our offensive cordinator and Isac Bruce who know the Rams on how they play on offense especially with our fast and explosive defense I really see us beating the rams.
The Seahawks are about to get a wakeup call from us this season.  Having J.J. and T.J. as their running backs is a step down.
Cardinals well we took their #3 reciever who could of been their #1 but you know Antonio Bryant and Fitzgerald will always be #1 and #2.

Overall I really think that we can take the division this season.

As unbiased as possible,

49ers: A-
Seahawks: C
Cardinals: C
Rams: C

No one in the division did nearly as much as we did.  We signed a very good defensive end, added two receivers that should be average at worst, a great back-up running back, had a good draft, and of course added Mike Martz.

abaddon the Seahawks did a little sumthin sumthin too. They shored up the O-line with the best free agent gaurd out there. And totaly revamped the running game.

To call the 9ers a- and the owners of the NFC West SEAHAWKS a C can only be taken as a biased ststement.

Where on gods green earth do you see the 49ers having a B rating. the 49ers are a terrible football version of the yankees. the difference is you guys dont have that season turnaround you lose year round. you guys spend too much on players who are not that good and forget to address the positions you need like lets say quarterback and reciever maybe d line and O line. i wouldnt give the best player on your team a B

I totally agree that most of these statements are biased.  Here are my personal grades

San Francisco: B- = We added secondary depth in the draft with the addition of Smith. As well as defensive line help in Smith and Balmer.  I don't think Smith was worth the money but we had no choice but to stretch for a need.  In all honesty letting Douglas go was a stupid move that lowers our grade.  We also added depth to the offensive line, two new starting WRs, and a new offensive coordinator to fix our offensive woes.  Hopefully Martz fixes our offense but there is skepticism even from die hard Niner fans.  We still don't have a clear number 1 receiver b
