I love it when a small school beats one of the so-called power basketball schools. Congrats to Davidson.  It will be tough to get by Kansas and North Carolina to get to the final four however.

Is it just me, or is North Carolina just "set up" every year to get all the cream puffs early so they don't have to work at it like the other number one seeds do?

Also, how does a team that EARNS it way to the field by virtue of winning its conference tournament, have to then play itself in again via the "play in" game? The play in game should never be anyone except bubble teams. The others already made it.

Hopefully Davidson overlooks Wisconsin as much as everyone else is. How people can just write off the number one defense in the country is beyond me.

That depends on what you mean by number 1 defense.  Do you mean points, percentage shooting, blocks, steals etc...

Georgetown kept teams in the big east shooting in the low forties, sounds good to me.

I have Davidson in the elite eight for a good reason.  Watch and learn...

Hibbert would've done better to have come out in last years draft. To me, this year really hurt his stock. Luckily teams will be lining up to pick him in June due to the fact that he's 7'2"

i dont understand the love affair with hibbert either. he only averaged like 12 points and 7 boards or something and at 7'2, he should dominate the paint more than that.

I wouldn't be concerned about the fact that Carolina plays "cream puffs" if I were you.

What's more disturbing is the fact that Carolina or Duke always seems to play in Carolina in the first round which is basically a home game.

But, I'm a Carolina fan so it's ok for me right now!

KU could get to the final 4 by facing a #16, #8, #12 and either a #3 or #10 seed.  Wisconsin is their only big name threat.  But they still might find a way to choke -- it's been done before (Bucknell, Bradley come to mind).

Who will win it all this year???

I'm not a fan of North Carolina or anything, but I have to disagree with that part of your statement.

For this tournament, the team with the easy bracket is definitely UCLA. Their 2 seed was a weak Duke (weakest two seed i think) and a struggling Xavier was their 3 seed. They had UConn as their 4th. Nobody expected UConn to do much and that is what happened.

North Carolina has to contend with Washington State, the third best Pac-10 team. Probably the best 4th seed in the tournament (either them or Pittsburgh). They have Louisville, who was tied for second in the Big East  with Notre Dame (who was also in this bracket), and Tennessee who some considered got screwed out of a number 1 seed. That is a pretty tough bracket.

Also, look at the last two times they were a Number 1 seed.
Last year: 2. Georgetown (final four team), 3. Washington State, 4. Texas, 5. USC
Those were 4 very good teams

2005: 2. UConn (a number 1 seed the next year), 3. Kansas (knocked out by Bucknell), 4. Florida (champions the next two years with virtually the same team as 2005), 5. Villanova (a 1 seed the next year)

they don't get easy rides to the final four. although i guess its not as bad as memphis, considering they consistently get games against teams that are playing on what is essentially a home court in the second weekend (UCLA two years ago, Texas A&M last year, Texas this year)

And, well done Davidson. That Stephen Curry is one hell of a player. Not too pleased that Georgetown is out though.

Of course Carolina gets preferential treatment, they are a media darling.  Why else would that slug Hansbourgh be a player of the year candidate?  Have any of those Hansbourgh morons seen Beasley or Love?  Looking at the mock draft sites Hansbourgh isn't even a lottery pick and in some cases not even a first round pick.  Gtown still has no offense.  Last year's success was in large part due to changing pivot foot in an NCAA tournament is no longer an infraction.  JT III needs to hire an assistant who has offense on his mind.  Love the D though.  GO DAVIDSON!!!!!

ya that's why UNC had probably the most difficult bracket of any one seed in the tournament. p.s. player of the year isn't based on nba potential, only how you did during the season

When I watch Tyler Hansbrough I think Eric Montross. Great college player, will average about 8 and 6 in the pros.

Hansbrough a slug? Go score 23 and 10 a game average against Carolina's schedule and tell us that.

Hansborough is a slug.  If he didn't play on North Carolina nobody would even know who he was.  Beasley, Mayo, heck, even Courtney Lee from Western Kentucky are better than Hansborough.  He is an overrated garbage man who shouldn't be anywhere near the discussion for Player of the Year.  If you want to compare numbers and talk only about "this season," then compare Hansborough's numbers to Michael Beasley's and then get back to me.

I have a suggestion for mbryant32: You need to spend your time watching NBA basketball because you don't have a clue about college basketball.

Hansbrough is only the third player in ACC history to not only be voted first team all-ACC three times, but by UNANIMOUS vote.

The other two are Art Heyman (Duke's all time leading scorer) and David Thompson.

In being selected first team All-ACC by unanimous vote, we aren't talking about about a few beat writers and TV announcers. Hansbrough has received 90 out of 90 votes three consecutive years from ACC media members that cover all 12 schools.

The fact that Hansbrough came to Carolina as a freshman and was dominant from virtually his first game might be his most impressive accomplishment, since UNC lost its top SIX scorers from its 2005 national championship team (the first defending national champion to lose that many key players) and had no absolutely NO help inside during that entire season.

Should Hansbrough return for his senior season, he will obviously (barring injury) become the first player in ACC history to be voted on the ACC first team four times and could very well be the first and only player to do it by UNANIMOUS vote.

In summary, I would advise mbryant32  (or any other morons) to do some research before making idiotic statements on a national message board that to provide no facts to back them up.

Of course, Heyman's and Thompson's accomplishments were much more impressive because there were such things as seniors back then.

Hansbrough plays hard but he's limited. Collison, the old Kansas star, is what I see in his NBA future.

Now Love of UCLA has a shot to be something at the NBA level. He's got some fluid moves, his passing ability keeps defenses honest and he can get his shot off against taller defenders because of the fadeaway.

Hansbrough just turns and shoots a semi hook. That is going to get stuffed by good defenders.
