The three biggest payroll hogs for the Knicks are: Crawford (9.3M/'09, 10M/'10), Zach (16M/'09, 17.3M/'10) and Eddie (10.5M/'06, 11.3M/'10).

After 2010, the Knicks have no major contracts to deal with. Lebron is under contract through 2010. Speaking as a Knicks fan, why not just Crawford's deal run out, and then try and make a run at James? The Knicks would'nt get anything for Jamal straight up - they'd just be taking back salary. It would have to be a package deal, including Lee, most likely - and that wouldn't be very smart given the decision to rebuild.

Lebron is definitely intrigued by the possibility of playing in New York.  I like the idea of having all these contracts out of the picture by 2010 and have nothing but young guys who could be valuable trading chips.  Of course a draft pick or two would be in order as well.  Maybe something like 3 draft picks and 3 players for Lebron.  Sound reasonable.  Lebron will not win anything in Cleveland any time soon with the players on that team.  Not as long as the Big 3 are in Boston, not as long as Detroit keeps that nucleus together, and not if Pat Riley has anything to say about it either.

Knicks, do you have a link to your avatar btw?  This place won't let me save it.

Listen to yourself. Three major contracts (Curry, Crawford, Randolph) come off the books in 2010 and LeBron is a free agent after the 2010 season. Why in the world would you trade picks & players for him before then? Think before you write.

Hmm yeah that wouldn't make too much sense.  Perhaps if he wanted out sooner rather than later.  I'm sure New York would be willing to comply with that demand.

The Kincks should take a page from the book of that other team across the river and not go crazy  signing these big name washed up players like they've doing and just focus on building via the draft. Sure LeBron James would be a great addition but at what price,it's not like the Knicks haven't given enough picks and not gotten anything in return. How many draft pick do the owe for past trades...?

Well for starters you are right about the unexplained picks thats been given with nothing in return but we are talking about Labron who has atleast a solid ten years in him but then i'm not gonna be the one to put a timeline on his health because he is a youthfull phenom. I would really love for that to happen with Lebron but there is just so much to work out on the home front with this mismatch bunch that we already have. I would keep JC but management has to decide what kind of team they want to have because he is a keeper but he's not a franchise builder.
