Bo did enough to win the award, as shown by the fact that he received more votes than every other coach but one - Keno Davis, who rightfully won it.  As great a job Bo did, Davis did a better one, but not by much.

Davis is a worthy recipient for national COY.  The better question in my mind is should Ryan have won the Big Ten COY?  I think the answer is yes.

This situation is not isolated for UW ahtletes and coaches.  Brian Elliot was in the final 3 for the Hobey Baker award (for best overall college hockey player), yet he finished second in the WCHA for the best goaltender (goalie from St. Cloud won, I can't remember his name).  Joe Thomas won the national award for linemen yet finished second to Jake Long, of Michigan, for the Big Ten award.  Ryan took home one of the national COY awards last year and I don't think he won the Big Ten award.  Interesting.
