1... it's way too early to comment on ERA and batting average. As one of the radio commentators on WFAN said, this part of the season averages are like an elevator; have one bad 1 for 4 day and your average is shot.
2. The rotation isn't that old. Santana is 29, Maine and Perez are 26, Pelfrey is 24. Hernadez and Pedro, 2 guys who aren't pitching now are obviously much older but still younger than Glavine and Smoltz, and we all know how well he's pitched. The bullpen is pretty young too, with Heilman at 29, Sanchez at 28, Smith at 24, and Sosa at 30.
The team needs to find their stride and they'll be alright
