How many races did it take her?? How many races will it be before she wins again? Let's not get too far ahead and etch her into racing immortality because of 1 win. If she were a man, we wouldn't be talking about this. It would just have been some no name coming out and taking his glory for a week before vanishing into the pack again.
Win a championship, then we'll talk

Thing is, she's not a man. She had to endure hardships no man would have to endure to get to the point she is in the sport. She's racing against numerous men that have never won a race, yet she now has. Whether she never wins another race or wins 50 more, does not matter -- SHE is the first woman to have won at the highest level in her male dominated sport. Great for her! Her name will be forever etched in the history books of IndyCar racing.

Congrats to Danica for the win.
Those of you knocking her are just showing a lack of class. She fast and she's hot and like it or not, she can out drive any of us!

First off, congrats to Danica, she won, but I still think she is overrated. Male or female, had they gotten the media attention they did and only had won one race up to this point in their career I would think the same. Heck i even think Dale Jr. is overrated. However, I will be one of the first to change my view after she puts together a string of wins, ya know maybe get around 4 or 5 career wins over the next few years and compete for a championship.
As for women competeing and winning at the top of their class, I think that is a misstatment. Women have been competing and have been succesfull in the NHRA expecially in the Prostock Motorcycle division. two women have actually won a championship that I know of Angelle Seeling was one of them in 2000. Infact I saw the other day that Ashley Force is leading I believe in Top Fuel (she has yet to win this year though). So to say that Danica is the first to win at the top level of their respective race series does a discredit to the women of the NHRA. And btw, Ashley Force is 10 times hotter than Danica for your info. But she respects her sport enough to promote it without using T and A. Part of that may have to do with her dad who might kill her if she did hahahaha.

Funny how I show lack of class to some people who have her jumbling her own goodies as an avatar. The irony!
Show of hands... How many people can drive a car?? If you aren't raising your hand, you are lying to yourself, or are just not yet to the age of 15-16... O.k, now how many people can hit a 90 mph fastball? That brings me to the next point.
Don't think I'm some kind of bigot because this isn't a big deal.
Does anybody remember the Colorado Silver Bullets?? The all-women professional baseball team that took on the men's collegiate and travelling teams around the country. They won a fair share of games, and even got into a bench clearing brawl after a HBP in 1996. THOSE were real women athletes. Don't give me this Danica Patrick stuff.
I'm sorry, but you made me say this... Just because she drives a car in circles, finishes 1st in a race once every 2-3 seasons, and strips down to the minimum for magazines, it doesn't make her an athlete or an inspiration. She's just another Anna Kournikova, using her looks for her popularity, not her skills. If she was a guy, she would be on the verge of being halfway out the door in the IRL. But no, we hail her because we can underhand ourselves to her swimsuit photos and making racing all "pretty."
You won a race... Thanks for showing up.
Yours truly,
A real sports fan.

Slick, you are a moron.
What does driving a car have to do with hitting a 90 mph fastball? Saying, "How many of you can drive a car?", as if being able to drive around town and driving an indy car to a win are the same thing. You think you could do it cuz you know how to drive your Ford to the store? that does not compare to driving an Indy car to a victory or to hitting a 90 mph fastball. It compares to hitting a ball of a tee. Maybe, to hitting a slow pitch softball if your local store is located at a busy intersection and the road that leads there is narrow a curvy.
