I thought the first priority of the AHL is to establish your talent and help them mature into better players.  Yet when the Marlies started their playoff season they went with the veteran Scott Clemmensen in net to start the series.  Justin Pogge is supposed to be the goaltender of the future of the Leafs and what better way to find out what he is capable of than to start him in the playoffs.  They should already know that 32 year old Clemmensen is capable of yet they are not giving him a shot

It looks a little like what Maurice was doing down the stretch with the big club, the coach putting his own interests above what is best for the organization.  The "Silver Fox" seems to have become a softie when dealing with his coaches and 'frozen five'.  The whole season the Leafs maintained that the only reason that Pogge wasn't called up was so that he could get the most experience possible, which would be at the AHL level, but now this?  Doesn't make sense.

What Marlies coach gilbert says is that they have a better chance with clemmensen in net and there are more young players on the MArlies roster that need the experience like TLusty, Robbie Earl, and Jay Harrison.

Pogge finally got a start in the third round and played well. It is a good sign for his future to be able to play well in a very important playoff game having not played in a while
