well its mick 3rd year this year and it will be the first with all the players he has brought in. i dont count the first 2, because his first year he put a team together in like a month, and then last year none of his recruits got to much playin time, besides alvin.
so i thought it might be fun to try and predict 5 things for the upcoming year. plz leave your 5 and when the year is over i will dig this up and see who was close and who was way off. really, let just get some bearcat talking going.
1. d vaughn will win big east player of the year.
2.yancy gates will be on the big east freshman team and on the all big east 2nd team.
3.mike williams will be on the all big east 2nd team.
4. cincy will win 10 games in the big east, will have a winning record, and make the ncaa as a 9 to 12 seed.
5. a riot will break out at the shoe during the wvu game, between huggs fans and uc fans. someone will shank mick in the back during the unrest, and they game will be called and move to indy for a netural court. when the game is over mick will have win number 2 over mr. huggins.
let me hear yours

Great thread cincyj. Here are my gems...
1. I hate to repeat you but Vaughn WILL be the player of the year in the Big East.
2. Bearcats will win at least 20 games, one of which will be against XU...11 maybe 12 wins in the conference.
3. Bearcats will be on the bubble come tourney time and will squeak in as a low seed because they have quality out of conference wins (lets hope).
4. Gates will be in the running for freshman of the year!!
5. Branden Miller will come off the bench in only 2 games. lol I love the guy but we will finally have quality bench players who will deserve playing time.
GO CATS!!

2. Yancy Gates will win Big East Freshman of the Year.
3. UC will go to the semifinals of the Big East Tournament
4. Vaughn will average over 20 points per game.
5. Bob Huggins will not wear his mustard suit against the 'Cats this year.

My five predictions are as follows:
- The Bearcats win 18-22 games this season, and enter the Big East Tournament as a 3 seed.
- Yancy Gates and Deonta Vaughn contend for Big East Rookie and Player of the year.
- Cincy makes it at least to the Big East semifinals with Gates looking like a young K-Mart.
- We make the NCAA Tournament, no CBI this year.
- We beat Xavier and Huggins pleads to get his old job back, with WVU at the bottom of the Big East.

1. New offensive weapons in Wright, Gates, and Aldridge (and, further developed offensive weapons in Bishop, Davis, and Mitchell) finally will take some of the pressure off of Deonta Vaughn, though he will still lead the team in scoring and be a unanimous 1st Team All-Big East selection.
2. Nick Aldridge will be the second-leading scorer on the team.
3. Cincinnati will win over 20 games and definitely will return to the tournament.
4. Alvin Mitchell will have a strong season (8 or 9 points per game) , and we'll finally start to understand some of the hype that surrounded him after his senior year in high school.
5. Cincinnati fans will finally stop talking about Bob Huggins, I hope.

An article in the Enquirer a few weeks ago claimed that Cronin had moved him from being indefinitely suspended to a probationary status. Cronin claims that Alvin is trying hard, and that he's playing much better. From the research I've done online, several blogs seem to be reporting similar things. I think we'll see him back on the bench next year. My guess is that Alvin's probable return may have had something to do with Varez Ward backing out of his commitment, though that's only speculative.
I saw flashes of great skill last season with Mitchell, and I think he's capable of playing consistently. I assume he was suspended because his grades weren't too great, he was poorly conditioned, and perhaps his ego was too big. We're talking about a guy who averaged over 30 points per game in an extremely talent-rich area of Florida as a high school senior (Class 4A or 5A player of the year), a guy Cronin believed would contribute immediately. Last year was a disappointment, but if he's getting his life in order and is willing to listen to the coach, we could see some great things from him.
