Remember Regan got those hostages released by promising Iran Arms; F15's, surface to air missiles... the whole works. And, he made that deal while he was a just a candidate. Not cool. Not smart.
Unless your in the top 5% of the income bracket, a vote for anyone but Obama, including a vote for Bill's wife, is against your own self interest.
And BTW Bruin, why don't you heed your own advice and STFU. I just read the rest of your crap. Militants? Your the only ignorant idiot in this thread yapping like a loon. In three posts you asked for the cite to the 3/5 clause, so sure were you? There you have it. I have a real pet peeve for people who pretend to know things and attempt to cover it up with raised voices, strong arm tactics, and fallacious arguments; it degenerates constructive debate into worthless posturing doing no one any good.

Through 1977Iran, ruled by the Shah of Iran, was a close American Ally. During the Nixon Administration, The Shah of Iran came to the United States to select either the new F-15 Eagle or the F-14 Tom Cat for his Iranian Airforce to replace the aged F-4 Phantoms. He ask for a "fly off" of the 2 "top of the line" American Aircrat. He selected the F-14 Tom Cats. The F-14's were delivered to the Shah of Iran with the American personal to train the Iranian Air Force and ground crews.
When the Ayatollall Khomeini took control of Iran in January 1979 after 2 years of chaos all bets were off. His regime took control of the American Embassy and 3000 "students" imprisoned 52 Americans including Marines on November4th, 79. The country of Iran and especially it's women had to change. Like pulling a light switch, women were expected to cover their entire bodys with cloth. Life was thrown back a hundred years.
The American personal that were asigned to train the pilots and ground crews left much sooner in 1977-78. With them came electronics and other sensitive parts/material that made the F-14's fly. To date, those planes have never flown.
When the 52 Americans were imprisoned, ABC began a program named NightLine hosted by Ted Koppel. They said Night Line would stay on the air until the Americans were set free. Of course we all know they stayed on the air much longer.
President Reagan could not have made any promise to another country, especially military arms, while a candidate for office. That kind of deal requires the approval of congress. And of course he did not do what you've suggested as no country would supply an enemy with weapons that could be used to attack American interest. Candidate Reagan did promise Americans that his first order of business would be to get the 52 hostages home.
The Americans were released after 444 days when Ronald Reagan took the oath of office. I watched television along with many other Americans and Iran waited until the very minute when Carter was not President. That's when our Americans left Iran's air space. They came home to a different America not knowing that every American had counted each day. They came home to an America full of pride in being an American. It was a very special time for them. They could be Americans again.
I'm not old enough to have a poor memory of those events, however, I am old enough to read about them. You can too, here.
Although Regan disavowed any knowledge of the arms-for-hostages deal, I personally find that very difficult to believe. Especially when the entire collection of documents that could have provided an affirmative answer as to Regan's personal involvement in his administrations decision to make the arms deal, were accidentally destroyed by the same.
When a custodian of evidence which is either exculpatory or incriminating destroys that evidence, or "can't find it" there should be a strong presumption that the evidence was incriminating. People have a miraculous ability to recover things which exculpate them of wrong doing.
FYI, Clinton was impeached. On December 19, 1998 the House of Representatives filed articles of impeachment on grounds of perjury and obstruction of justice by vote of 228-206 and 221-212 respectively. He was latter aquitted of those charges by a vote of 50-50 in the senate.
Impeachment is akin to an indictment or the filing of criminal charges, not the whole process of removal.
WSUcougar05 - You are talking about 2 very different events. Check your dates and time lines. Moreover, read more about each event, You owe it to yourself to know the difference.
Reagan was smart enough to go on National Television, hold up his hand to accept responsobility regardless of evidence. Had Nixon done the same when the break-in at Water Gate occured, he would not have had to resign.
Your last paragraph regarding evidence was well used by the Clinton administration and is true of most every President. In almost every case it is the cover up of an event that gets Presidents in trouble, not the act itself.
