I have only seen clips of Flacco and he looks solid, but going into the season if you were on the Ravens coaching staff who would be your starter coming into camp... pick one and reason... none of this no one will be the starter unti lthey earn it stuff (for discussion purposes).

I know htis sounds very OSU homer like but I think Troy Smith did a decent job in the 2 games he started and didnt make rookie turnovers.  I have always thought that his composure could make him a decent NFL starter, and to me he looked in a lot better shape when moving around then he did in college.  So my pick is Troy Smith... I know this is more of an NFL boards but I would like to hear your guys opinion.

I'd love to see what Troy Smith can do with a month or so playing with the first team but I think Boller will be the started with Smith at number 2 and Flacco 3 for at least a good amount of time.

I see and somewhat agree with both of what AC and Bob said.  Boller will likely be the starter headed into camp.  Troy Smith is a heck of a competitor and leader it would be nice to see what he can do with a new coaching staff.  That said, I would be interested to see Smith and Flacco battle for the job.  I do not believe in Boller at all.  He has been in the league, what 4 or 5 years now?  He is not the leader in the huddle I envision a QB should be...
Just my take.

What could possibly learned from playing Boller even one more play?  Let Smith have a turn.  Actually as a Browns fan I hope they play Boller.

I agree.  Boller has proven himself to be a very limited player and Smith should get the nod for a year.  After which I'm sure he will have proven himself in the same fashion, and then maybe Flacco could step in and earn his money.  Smith should play this year, but I don't think there is any confusion about his talent and potential.  Reminds me of Shaun King with the Bucs from a couple of years ago, but with a little more talent.

What kind of poll is this??

Like asking if I want to drown, burn to death, or watch a Notre Dame game. Yikes.

BTW OSUBOB:
Nice avitar; LeBron's the man.
I wonder...If he's overrated as DeShawn Stevenson said, what does that make the Wizards. In the 4 games so far, LeBron leads the Cavs in scoring, rebounds, and assists.

Flacco has all the physical tools it looks like but it will take a while for him to get used to a pro style offense I think... used to getting the ball from the shotgun, and played against a lot smaller and slower comp in his division of College football

I would start the Heisman winner--Troy Smith. He has a year under his belt; give the kid a chance. I wouldn't start Joe Flacco however, because going from 1AA to the NFL is a huge jump. Give him a year to get used to the speed of the game. Even QB's who played at major colleges have a hard time adjusting to the game speed as rookies.

I'm surprised Boller still has a job, Troy should get the start, except when they play the browns of course.

I don't know if they will give Troy Smith much of a chance. They probably start Boller, then when he gets booed off the field as is routine with him, Flacco comes in to try to be the savior.

I agree that the jump is huge.  Also, remember that Flacco couldn't even beat Palko at Pitt out while he was there.

Make no mistake, Flacco has all the tools and I truly hope he pans out.  I'm a Steelers fan though, so hoping the Ravens offense improve is just stupid.  :)
