This year we have to make a few moves to start the season... for one put holt back in second wr positon even though he is first. two.. start bartell and hill... not brown he is garbage!!! 3 anyone agree witherspoon is not a middle linebacker, he gets hung on to many blocks. 4 cliff ryan is a starter.5.. why isnt ty hill on the return team the guy is blazing and you see he got hurt in practice so in the Nfl there should be no such rule as protecting players from injury.... it should be play them to win. 6 why is Corey Chavous still a strong safety.. he needs to move to free safety or get benched. 7 on pass plays shift the line to protect pace. 8 let holt run deep stretch plays he is fast isnt he... at least i saw him go deep in college i thought he has 4 .3 speed. 9 run more screen plays for jackson.10 play your young talent often and early.. im correct when i say holt and pace start there rookie years.

1. bartell is a slot corner, in a year or two he will be a starter, not yet, brown is slow but solid, just inujured.
2. if holt is #1, keep him there
3.witherspoon loves MLB, and so does haslett, plus he got 7 sacks, so he couldnt have gotten stuck on two many blocks
4.cliff ryan doesnt have the stamina to start...yet
5.speed isnt the only part of being a return man, you need field vision.
6.corey chavious is starting because every one else sucks
7. if pace is healthy he needs no help
8. holt is fast, but hes also one of the best route runner in the nfl, plus he isnt as fastast he use to be, 10 years in the nfl and a knee surgery will slow him down.
10. rookies will play when they adjust to the nfl. its alot faster and they need to learn the system first

I tend to agree more with stevieisgod. Here's my take on your 10 points.
1.Brown is a solid starter for now until Justin King is ready, I see Bartell as a good nickel defender.
2.Holt for now is our reciveing corp, wish we had to of him so he could play 1 & 2.
3.Since Witherspoon moved inside and played very well I would say he's found a new home there. We should look for some one to stay healthy at the WLB.
4.I like the Idea of rotating Cliff Ryan and La'Roi Glover keeping them fresh and halthy.
5.Let Hill consentrate on being a CB. After all isn't that why we have Dante Hall and now Donnie Avery!!
6.At this one agree with stevie
7.At this one agree with stevie
8.At this one agree with stevie
9.I don't care if its screens or just more run plays give Jackson the Ball!!
10.I say until they can contribute on the feild let them play special teams.

I agree with you Stevie also, but to the thread originator. We do need a SS..Corey is garbage. We do need another LB opposite Witherspoon, he is basically all we got. Bartel is not ready to be a starter, he is still young yea...okay the guy has been in the league 4 yrs now, he is about 27 or 28 how much time do he need to develop into a starter??? by 25 if he's not starting and producing well we all know he's a nickel back at best.

I think I agree with every one of steveisgod's replies.
I do have a couple of suggested changes the Rams should make, myself:
1) Stop playing so many advertisements on the big screen during the game... It really takes the crowd out of a game to have a commercial for a jewelry store or a nursing home playing on the big screen (I'm not kidding, the Rams really have played a commercial for a nursing home during regular season home games!). The Rams may be getting a few extra bucks for squeezing in a couple more adds, but at the cost of a home field advantage!?! That's foolish!
2) Make kick returns a priority... It hurts that we never break off a long return. Having to score on an 80-yard field (meaning when the return man only makes it back to the 20) is a lot harder than having to score on a 60-yard field.
3) Make special teams a priority, period... It really, really hurts when a stupid block in the back backs the team up even further! Having to score on a 90-yard field is even harder than scoring on an 80-yard field.
4) More screens and short passes to Steven Jackson... Just like the original poster pointed out.

Chill mannn our team is rebuilding and itll take some time.
1. Holt is our number one guy. Even if he did go number 2 why would we want Drew Ben. at number one? And Donnie Avery is no number one WR... not yet that is.
2. Bartell is young and he's learning to turn into a good Corner in the NFL. Brown is all we got for now.
3. Witherspoon did great last year at MLB. He's a little small but he's fine where he is.
4. Clifton Ryan is going to be a good or maybe even great DT in the NFL but he's not ready yet.
5. Tye Hill could be on the return team. I dont see why not.
6. Corey Chavous is all we got man. And until we make a move to get someone better he's all we got. And moving him to FS would be dumb cause O.J. Atogwe was the biggest surprise to me last year. He came up one some good plays last year. And i look foward to seeing him as our FS for more years to come.
7. Orlando Pace is pretty old but like stevie said, when he's healthy he'll be the one doing the protecting.
8. Holt isnt the fastest WR out there but he's one of the best when he's healthy. We can use him going deep on alot of Posts to take out safties while Drew Ben. and Avery come in for a good gain.
9. Jackson is great on screen plays and i like that idea. We need to put the ball in Steven Jackson's hands more often. He's our best player.
10. We dont wanna rush starting our young players. It takes time for these guys to develope. It'd be nice to get them playing time so they can get some experience.
I'm looking foward to seeing our D-Line next year guys. We could have one of the best. We have 3 young D-Linemen this coming season. And i think with some time and experience our guys could turn into BEASTS. Clifton Ryan, Adam Carriker, and Chris Long.

stevie covered most of what I have to say, but I'll just elaborate a few places because I'm in class and have nothing better to do.
Who else could we possibly put at #1? Bennet is laughable after last season (although I expect better this year) and Avery was drafted specifically because he is a natural slot receiver. Also, I really have no idea why we would not have Holt at #1... Do you think they are going to put a weaker corner on him if he's on the other side?
Witherspoon getting hung on blocks? I donno.. the team I was watching last season seemed to have one player who made all the tackles. I am in firm belief that he was nearly as big of factor as Carriker and Ryan in helping shore up our run D last season.
Protect Pace? Whaaaa? Unless they are gonna hold his triceps together, I'm not sure what you mean.

We need to shake up the offense. A 2 running back offense would do wonders. Obviously you have Jackson, tough, big, and fast. Add in another smaller RB with a complete opposite running style: Elusive and speedy. Defenses would struggle how to handle the two from one style to another.
Our WRs ain't what they used to be. We need to hope Avery and Burton pan out. Even if they do, we're going to need a new #1. Someone big and physical that strikes fear into opposing secondaries like T.O. or Randy Moss.

we have 3 needs on defense, a shut down corner, a strong side OLB, and a SS. on offense we really need a center and a future #1 WR as rammer said. Holt can go for another 3 years i think before he really runs out of gas, so we have some time before that becomes a pressing need, and by the times it does we will need a new OT.
pace and holt are HoFers, they are a dimond in a pile of coal.

ya iknowalot knows nothing. i dont know if he ever watched a Rams game b4.
1. they should never draft a system wide out in the kind of offense we run now. lonnie would work in martz offense not this one. Holt will be our number for atleast 3 more years unless he retires or drew bennit sum how becomes an all-star which is not happening.
2. Ron bartell should never be a starting corner back. i repeat ron bartell should never be a starting corner back. i would rather see Justin King there b4 bartell. brown keeps getting in trouble but atleast we know he is trying to be better. hill will only be a real good CB if he learns to run as fast as he does now on platforms or stilts. you can get away with a tiny reciever not a corner back.
3.i would rather see witherspoon at outside i really wish they made a run for Zach Thomas but no are front offense had to sign Trent Green 1st. he is a solid middle linebacker. no need for alot height at middle hes not blockin shots he is stopping the run.
4.Cliff ryan showed some great plays but he is still not good to replace glover maybe later during the season.
5. Why isnt Tye Hill a return man?? prolly the same reason tye hill isnt a reciever.
6. move cory to free safety and then boot oj. ya thats soounds great! not. justin kings name really comes up when i think new strong safety not to fast but they say he can hit
7. move the line over to protect are hall of fame tackle??? no move pace to tight end to protect barron that would make more since than moving the line to protect pace. im sure if we had 3 paces on the line and no1 else bulger would have more protection.
8. holt is fast BUT holt is 32 AND the only decent reciever we have is drew ben. WHICH means they will just set a safety deeper if thats all we do. he is a route runner not a burner. give him a post with randy n drew pulling away the safetys it mite work every time or leave them to open.
9. i think a screen play is a soon retired play like the double wing offense.lines pick up on it to quick now it does work when it gets the defense off balence but if you watched the Giants d line in the playoffs defend the screen that is soon to happen every where.
10. WHAT YOUNG TALENT?? who is lonnie avery??? who is John Greco??? i see brian lenord did such a great job replaceing hegdecock who now has a superbowl ring and made Derrick Ward ahmad bradsaw and whatever other bums the giants had rush for over a hundred yards a game.
