I'm a Devil fan, and being that he is a Ranger, I don't like him. For Ranger fans to call him "the King" isn't right, mainly because he hasn't won a Stanley Cup yet.

However, I think you're forgetting that he did win the Olympics, and for some players, thats more important than winning the Stanley Cup. In my opinion, winning a Olympic gold medal is more gratifying. Being that the US hasn't won one in a while, we have overlooked that type of achievement, but till this day, we still remember and cherish the team that beat the Russians so long ago.

He did beat us, this year, so give him that respect. However until the Rangers win a Stanley Cup, the Devils will always be viewed as the better team.

Vman,Well said and henrik has a LOOOOOONG way to go before he can compare to Marty. In fact that whole tag of calling him ''KIng'' I think hurts him because he is trying to play over and above what he actually can and hes taking on more mentally then he needs to. He beat Marty which should have been a huge Load off of his Mind he should have been playing easy and care free against the high powered Pens,Though I believe he folded under that Pressure and attack!

I know he won a gold medal.... and that is a great accomplishment. But that doesn't make him a great goalie. Tommy Salo won a gold medal in 1994, was he a great goalie?? He never won a playoff series in his entire life. Anyone can get hot in the two weeks it takes to complete the Olympic hockey tournament. That doesn't automatically make someone great.

This was a persuasive post, but this is the problem with Devils fans and Islanders fans alike. We have to stop worrying about the Rangers and what they're up to and worry about our own teams! I think most Devils fans worry more about the Rangers than their own team! Even back when the Rangers sucked! Don't get me wrong, Lundvquist is the best thing to happen to the Rags since Richter retired, but you can't compare him to the legends yet, but I digress. Stop worrying about the Rangers, their fans, and what people are saying about the Rangers! Let's focus on the Devils!

Devilsfan626,I agree almost with all of what you said. But the Thread is very simple.Devil fans have had to listen to Rangers Fans the last few Years calling there Average Goalie ''King''.I would certainly agree to this tag once he won at least one  Stanley cup.How though do you call this guy that when the Second Rounds of playoffs seem to be his limit???Also the Ranger Brethren act as if the Hockey Hall of Fame has a slot for Henrik already, thats isnt the case, let him work and achieve properly..........first before tagging a name that quite simply he has not lived up to....and if he has then what would you call Marty?
