The Grizzlies finished the 2007-08 season with the tied 3rd worst record in the league at 22-60. They have a 13.7% chance of getting the first overall pick.

Now that all of the underclassmen have declared, it is becoming clearer of who will actually enter the draft. Underclassmen who declared but did not sign an agent have until June 16 to withdraw from the draft.

The lottery is on Tuesday, May 20 at 8 P.M. Eastern on ESPN.
The draft is on Thursday, June 26 at 7 P.M. on ESPN.

If the Grizzlies do get the #1 pick, who will they take? These are the top 7 prospects according to ESPN.com.

*underclassman that could withdraw (did not sign an agent)

All of the players who did not sign an agent on the poll probably will.

The Grizzlies also have the 28th overall pick from the Lakers. They got it in the Pau Gasol trade. The pick might turn into the 30th pick if the Lakers win it all (I think).

I think they should take Michael Beasley if they get the first pick. He can score in many different ways, and he can rebound the ball as well. His stats could be inflated a little since there wasn't much talent around him at Kansas State. Beasley could start at power forward right away, depending on what position Rudy Gay plays next season.

The Grizzlies also should consider taking Brook Lopez if he is still there. They do not have a good center, and Lopez could develop into a good one. I watched him a lot in college, and he played against some of the best competition in the Pac-10. He is a very good post scorer who can rebound the ball very well. Lopez is also surprisingly a good free throw shooter. He shot 78.9% from the line last season. His defense is good as well; he averaged 2.1 blocks per game.

I meant to say if they don't get the #1 pick, they should consider taking Lopez. Everyone is still there if you have the number 1 pick.

I will be very disappointed if the Grizzlies draft O.J. Mayo.

He is a very talented player, but his character issues do not belong on the Grizzlies or the NBA.

Mayo would not fit in with Mike Miller or Rudy Gay.  The Grizzlies need a PG, PF, or C.  Beasley, Lopez, or Rose would be nice (I voted for Beasley).
