Well after Brian and Booker, who the odd man out? odd men out? or keep 5?
Ryan Moats: due $460,000 in 2008. 2009 free agent
missed 07 due to injury. 06 he only got 22 carries for minimal yards
Tony Hunt: due $370,000 in 2008. signed through 2010
only given 10 carries last year. coming into his second year, i've read his in the "best shape of his life". We'll see.
Correll Buckhalter: due $1,000,000 in 2008. 2009 free agent
would they want to dump him to loosen up more money? Does Booker hurt him that much that he's now expendable?
I gotta put my money on Moats out the door.
depth going into the year is Westbrook/Booker/Buck/Hunt

Its uncommon to see four runningbacks during a regular season roster unless you only go one fullback. I would agree and say Ryan Moats is on his way to the practice squad.

I think Moats is definately gone but the real question is if they stick with their usual 3 or keep 4 this year and go a little lighter in another position. they had 4 on the roster last year after they brought back Mahe. If they go with 3 it will be a tough decision between Hunt and Buck. Buck is reliable - has a great ypc but does have some injury history and not alot of upside. Hunt has alot more potential and you hate to give up on him after one year but didn't show much at all last year.

I think the fact that Ryan Moats only has 4 receptions for 7 yards over his three years with the Eagles is what will kill him. There's no room for a RB that can't catch in the Eagles offense.
I don't think there is any way the Eagles will keep 5 RB's, some years they only keep 3. If they keep 4, one will be inactive all year. I won't be suprised to see both Moats and Tony Hunt gone.

I don't think the Birds will cut bait with Hunt just yet, despite what was a disappointing rookie season.
If Philly keeps just 3 backs, I'd wager it'd be Westbrook-Booker-Hunt. If they go with 4, I wouldn't be shocked if they parted ways with Buckhalter and picked up a less expensive veteran option.

i think i might be more disappointed in Andy/Marty not getting Hunt the ball more. 10 carries, yes a very low 1.6 avg. Give the guy at least 30 carries next year. lets see what he can do, and i need more then 10 carries to see that and count him out. Before the Booker trade I was hoping for more like 40-50 carries for Hunt in 2008.
1 TD in 10 carries.

I would be surprised if Hunt got cut. I knew when we got Booker that Moats was gone.
Hunt is supposed to be the BIG back that gets the tough yards, but as Sue pointed out, if ya can't catch . . . . . . . . well, let's just say Andy doesn't like you very much.
I see it being Westbrook, Booker, Buck, and Hunt. Balanced and only ONE that cannot catch out of the bunch.
I don't see Reid & Co. NOT carrying four this year due to the fact that no one will really know how Booker is gonna play out until the real games start up. He looks good in shorts and I guess film gives you some idea, but HOW does he play in Andy's system. I don't know as we chance it with just Buck and his injury history, Westbrook and his once a year injury thing (We use him a lot to guys), and Booker (still an unknown). At least Hunt knows the system now and he truly HAS NOT has the time opportunity to show IF he can produce in this offensive scheme.
Moats is gone though IMO.

The problem is he can't pass protect. So if he's in there and teams know he can't pass protect he's a liablity. They know it's a run or they are going to get a sack. That's why he only had 10 carries. If he wants more carries he needs to learn to pass protect or he won't be an Eagle that much longer.

I think that they could go 4 (with moats the odd one out) justifiably. booker is going to be receiving as much as he runs, as I have said in previous posts, although Booker is not going to be a three down back, he does add a new split for westbrook. Buckhalter is too reliable to get rid of, although not amazing, he is consistent and the offense needs him. Hunt is a project still and hopefully he is going to be the third down and pounding back for when we need the clock run down.
The only way I can see anyone other than moats going is if a trade is made for Buckhalter and/or hunt that is too good to miss. Maybe Parcells and Reid made a deal when Booker came here? I thought at the time that a Hunt and Booker swap would probably fit both teams perfectly.
The other consideration is that they do not need a fulltime full back any more, with the rotations they have in place, unless Jason Davis is outstanding at mini camp, the option of Klecko means they can save the extra roster space there.

i can see them keeping 4 with Ryan Moats and Tony Hunt fighting for that 4th spot. But i can also see the Eagles just keeping three, If Moats dont show any Progress in his ball handling and catching. If Tony Hunt dont show any improvement with his blocking scheme they are both gone.
