Here they come! The DL is starting to clear. Harden and Foulke will be back by this weekend. Gaudin is going to the bullpen, so Kiko stay away. The other bet is that an outfielder will be the other caualty to be sent down.

Anyone else notice that Thomas is 0-for-Oakland in the HJR department. Frank knock a few out on the road in Texas over the weekend. We can not keep relying on Ellis and Suzuki for power ball.

Our 12-5 road record will be put to the test this weekend. Let's get back at Texas for their recent 2-of-3 here and take 2 or 3 on their home turf.

The Athletics take two of three from the Rangers this weekend? Why? Man, I'm down to break out the brooms in Texas! Greg Smith followed by Dana Eveland followed by Rich Harden... I'd say we have a pretty good shot. Arlington is where Barry Zito and Harden went back to back a couple years ago in their first starts after the All-Star Break each taking no hitters or perfect games into the 7th or 8th inning. I believe Harden's ended up a two hit shutout on under 90 pitches.

Correction: That game Rich Harden pitched again Chan-Ho Park in Oakland. 81 pitches with 8 strikeouts. Here's the Gamecenter Recap.

Three games won this weekend would be great, but I will be happy with 2-of-3. Texas just swept 3 games from Seattle, which is one more win than we have been able to achieve in 5 games against the Mariners.

One of the issues I worry about this year is the order of the pitching rotation. Having 2 similar left-hand pitchers pitching in back-to-back games does not bode well for the guy starting the second game, in my opinion. I would rather see a right hander in between the lefties in a 3 game series. The A's have had this problem in the past with right handers, when they had Haren, Blanton, and (can't remember who that other ex-Baltimore starter was). When the A's had Mulder and Zito, they were drastically different. If I were Curt Young, I would try to break this up before the second time around for teams seeing these two.

Go A's!
