I read up on all of this, following my completion of Assassin's Creed. Towards the end all of the hidden messages appear and they all speak about the end of the world in 2012. It is an interesting subject, if people would just be open-minded and not just make fun of it without knowing anything.
TheBolt, I agree with you that anything can happen. But the interesting thing about this is that almost every major ancient culture predicted this. On the exact day. So there was some kind of consensus about what would happen and exactly when.
Personally, I believe that there will be a chance for the world to end, but I don't think that it for sure will. However, I do believe that something big is bound to happen like when the Heaven's Gate cult committed that mass suicide.
