Mike Dantoni is a great NBA coach. I am sad to see him go, except for the fact he is so stubborn it hurts him. Here is a list of some of his greatest miscalculations:
1. I can win with a championship playing 7 guys..... 5 if it is a close game.
2. I dont need to coach defense, our opponents will be so tired by the 4th quarter we will run them out of the building (apparently he doesnt make a connection that theory #1 rules out #2)
3. Seven seconds or less can win a championship.
4. I can go to New York and the fans there will give me the 3 years I need to be a contender.
Mike (or his agent) needs his mental calculator tweaked a bit.
Best of luck to Mike D'antoni, with the void in decent coaches available you will be sorely missed in Phoenix. Look on the bright side, even the Knicks should be able to compete in the East.

MIke D'Antoni is a awful coach. He can't get it done even with a star spangled roster. Imagine trading the Suns with Shaquille O'Neal and Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Leadro Barbosa, Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, Grant Hill... Imagine trading that for the Knicks Stephon Marbury, Jammal Crawford, Zack Randolph, David Lee, Nate Robinson, Malik Rose and such...
Bad coach, too many knuckleheads, too much payroll, too little patience...
Recipe for disaster...

Oracle,
You said it all. It will be fun to watch another meltdown in N.Y. The Knicks roster has only two or three guys with enough bball IQ to play D'Antoni's offense.
Starberry is a far cry from Steve Nash.

After the whole Isiah Thomas fiasco, New York Knick fans just might be a little patient. I mean, let's face it the Knickerbockers are the joke of the NBA so the fans just might give D'antoni a break if it appears he has the team headed in the right direction...just sayin

Jcat, this was a power play that Mike won reluctantly. I am not sure he ever wanted the job in New York but the obvious attraction was the money they'd pay him over 4 years to become yet anothe scapgoat for this franchise. He bets that perhaps he will get lucky and win some games along the way. I am not betting on that nor is he giving the money back. Right man, wrong job!

U guys really amazed me ...
seriously the Knicks will never be a good team ? isn't possible that the reason why they were so bad it's because of Isaiah ? and now with a new coach the players will do a much better job ?
don't quit jump on judging and speculating ... Aren't you the same people who said that the Hornets won't win a playoff series because of their inexperience ?

The reason they were so bad was because everyone on their team sucks. Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph should be kicked out of the NBA for their lack of any effort whatsoever. Starbury is an egotistical idiot who thinks he is better than he is. Nate Robinson is a midget. Jamal Crawford can score and do not much else. The only person on that entire team I would take to put on my bench would be David Lee. Isiah Thomas was a terrible GM, yes. But if Larry Brown couldn't coach that team no one can. Good like, D'Antoni, you're going to need it. The first thing I'd do when I got there would be to sit Eddy Curry's fat @ss right on the end of the bench. That guy doesn't deserve to be paid a dime.
