Ok Brett Favre retired we all no but im curious on what you guys think who is the best q.b in our NFC North division? The Lions got the vet in Kitna but is he better then the others, Minnesota's Tarvaris Jackson and Booty gets the job, Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers unless Brian Brohm takes over for him, And then u have the Bears who dont even have a decent q.b because Grossman is horrible and Orton dosent really throw justs hands the ball off.
So what do you guys think ?

Looking at it I hate to say it But Kitna looks like the best now. The jury is still out on Jackson this is his make or break season; he has the tools lets see if he can get it done. Rodgers is really an unproven, he looked good in the Dallas game last season but can he keep it up for a season? And whomever the Bears have at quarterback are not very good. The NFC North is lacking in the QB department. So Kitna gets the edge very slightly. I am not just saying that because I am a Lions fan either.

I think it is either Kitna or Aaron Rodgers. I know I am a little biased, being a Packers fans, but I try my best to look at every situation with an open mind. Kitna has been inconsistent all his career, and that was true last year as well. He had great games and he had terrible games. Although Rodgers only played in one game last year, he was very impressive, and with him in the game, the Packers outscored the high-octane Cowboys. It should be interesting to see the Vikings and Packers quarterback battles play out. I give the nod to Rodgers and Jackson in both situations, only because I like Rodgers and think he'll be good and I think Booty is a bust(then again, so is Jackson...). Minnesota will still be home to possibly the worst starter in the NFL, and Chicago will continue to be a quarterback wasteland. But Kitna and Rodgers could have great years.

Sid Luckman was good in the 50's, not great, but good. Jim McMahon was decent in the 80's. But you know you're bad when people have to look back to 1950 to find a standout at quarterback.

Is Jon Kitna the answer to this question? Appears to be, certainly he is the most accomplished.
Best college career: Rodgers,Orton,Brohm?
Is there even a consensus first round talent hiding somewhere in the norris?

The choice has to be Jon Kitna, more by eliminating the other QB's in the division than anything else. Jon has the most experience and has shown that he can play effectively, with the right system around him.
The Vikings and Bears dont have anything, I would give the advantage to Travis Jackson to whoever the Bears will have starting this week. The Bears did nothing to address their QB problems and will be going into the season with a hope and a prayer that it wont be too bad.
Aaron Rodgers is an unknown and unproven quantity. Its been years since he has played meaningfully in games. He did have a good college career but that was college. The Packers, who know ARod best from coaching him and seeing him daily in practice, had so much confidence in him that they drafted Brian Brohm. It doesnt look good for Aaron. Most quarterbacks who immediately follow a great quarterbacks are forgettable. The only exception was the Joe Montana/Steve Young era with the 48'ers and that was a unique situation and was before salary caps.

It has to be Rodgers. Green Bay is still the team to beat. They have good recievers, a good back, and a strong o-line. The pieces around Rodgers give him a huge advantage. Kitna has good recievers an unproven back, and a o-line that at best is a work in progress. Plus Kitna is prone to the stupid mistake, and holds the ball to long.
The NFC Central just is not impressive when looking at QB's.

JDW,
I agree that GB has the better supporting cast as a whole, but I guarantee the total yards and passer rating goes to Detroit. Your basing your statement partially on attributes you see in Kitna, but have no comparison for Aaron Rodgers other than his one game last year.
All that a side, I am not sure what "central" division your talking about, must be your fantasy league........ It's NFC North, just in case you forgot.

My bad on Central wrong sport,
I understand passing rating and yards, but those stats can be missleading. For example the Lions are getting blown out and have to pass every down. With that trend yards and stats can give a misleading view of your QB look at Kitna of two years ago. All those yards and what did the Lions have to show?
i guess the issue is what is the definition of a top QB? I go by the sight test, if your QB does the things to put your team in position to win and avoids the stupid mistake. The sad part of the equation is the ten other guys that are needed to help make the QB look good. Without Tyree making that catch last year would Eli been seen in the same light? Probably but it's the same, Manning becomes a stud when Tyree saved his butt. Rodgers just has a better cast and did learn from watching Brett Farve.
Kitna has had a good career like Don Stock had a good career, just the fact of the matter is they are backups.

Every team in this division has a bunch of junk at qb. Like picking the tallest midget. Rodgers looks like he has the best upside. You know what your going to get with Kitna (lucky to have almost as many tds as turnovers). Jackson has the best situation with the running game up there. Orton and Grossman have no one to throw the ball to. I refuse to pick one!! :)
