I wouldn't take anything from the Heat except for Wade or Marion.. That team needs serious help.

Hinrich and Marion's contracts do not match, so the Bulls would have to pony up a bit more than just Kirk.  Perhaps Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas, allowing the Bulls to sign and trade with Deng to get another piece.

A friend whose hoop knowledge I respect feels that Rose immediately makes either Ben Gordon/Hinrich and/or Deng that much better as spot up shooters.  As he drives and draws, whomever is there will benefit from the open shots he creates.  I prefer keeping the the biggest of your backcourt in Hinrich, Hughes and Gordon to pair with Rose.  Sign and trade Luol while acquiring even more athleticism along the frontline.  Gooden is not a 20/10 but can't we live with his 16/8?

Jazzman,

Is it really worth turning ourselves into pretzels worrying about getting Shawn Marion? I don't think so. Though I like the idea of dumping our elf-looking PG. Kirk is now very expendable, but I just doubt any team would bite on the ridiculous contract Pax gave him. I still say we go after Andre Iguodala this offseason. Let Ben and Luol take some other sucker's money and offer the max to Andre. I know i'm starting to sound like every other "pie in the sky guy" on these boards, but allow me a little latitude here. I think the upside would be tremendous and Andre might have to seriously think about it given the attraction of playing in a bigger market, next to Rose, and hopefully for a fine coach (are you sure Jeff Van Gundy isn't interested?).

Here's the obligatory "new" starting five that will just amaze you (tongue firmly planted in cheek).

PG - Derrick Rose

SG - Andre Iguodala

SF - Andres Nocioni

PF - Drew Gooden

C - Joakim Noah

I like the whole idea.  But, I still wish there was a way we could get rid of Larry Hughes contract and I still wonder if Andres Nocioni improves with better players around him.  Or, does he suffer from "I think I am better than I actually am".  I know you cannot have he and Hughes on the floor at the same time as they are both bad shot machines.    Kirk, while being overpaid, can play a combo 3rd G, get less minuites and, may find some consistency with his shot.

But, within your plan, I would be interested to hear what your plan for the "Basketball dumb" Tyrus Thomas" would be.  Also, somewhere in the mix has to be a reliable spot up shooter.  Neither Kirk, Hughes, or Nocioni satisfy me in that regard.

Finally, besides Gray and Thomas, where is the frontline depth?  You may have to play Iguodala at SF and Sefalosha at SG so that Nocioni can swing between 3/4 off the bench and limit the minutes to Thomas and other no names on  the roster.

Can the Bulls sign and trade with Gordon or Deng, to gain depth and still lure Iguodala.

I don't know why you guys don't want to give Thomas a chance..He was our second pick two years ago he is young and he had a coach that shuffeled the lineup every other game..I am still a little puzzled why we trade Aldridge for him but that is done and over with we made the trade.. I think if we can get a constitent coach and a true point guard like Rose then Tyrus might just turn into a worthy number 2 pick..Remember he is still very young and it usually takes players a couple years to fully mature..Jermaine O'neal took a couple years and Garnett didn't start off scoring 20 points..Not to say Tyrus is going be either of those players but I think we shouldn't just count him out yet..He definetly is athletic and with a point guard like Rose I can see alot of dunks between the two kinda like chandler and Paul

As for Marion I think we should pass the only deal worth doing with Miami is for Wade or the number 2 pick..Marion isn't the power forward presence we need..Carmelo I think we should pass on him too..If anything go after Brand which we shouldn't have let him go in the first place..WE really screwed up with the Wallace signing should have just kept Chandler given him the Wallace money cause he definetly outplayed him.. but that is a whole new story

I definetly think that drafting Rose and the current roster we have we will right up there for contention..trade for a post PF and we will be top 4 in the east easily..and when the players on the Pistons and Celtics retire or slow cause of age our young talented team will be on top..
