Mets manager Willie Randolph was noncommittal on whether he would alter his rotation so ace Johan Santana could start Friday at Yankee Stadium in the opener of the weekend Subway Series. Fantasy Analysis
Going up against the Nationals would be beneficial to Pelfrey, who beat Washington with seven scoreless innings April 15. As far as Santana, he has plenty of experience facing the Yankees since he did so many times when he was with the Twins. In fact, Santana won his only start against New York in 2007. However, if he is bumped to Friday, Fantasy owners will have to wait for Santana to be a two-start pitcher. If he goes Thursday, he will line up for two starts Fantasy Week 8 (May 19-25). Aside from that, Santana is a must-start Fantasy SP, while Pelfrey is more of a NL-only option. (Updated 05/13/2008).
Santana gave up a season-high 10 hits and three runs in the Mets' 12-6 win over the Reds in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. (Updated 05/11/2008)
Advice
Santana, who has allowed 10 hits in a game five times in his career, earned his first win at Shea Stadium as a Met Saturday. He is 3-0 with a 3.13 ERA in his last five starts overall.
