The Sports Xchange reports that Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera is due to break out soon, says his manager, Jim Leyland. Cabrera has not driven in a run in his last nine games and went 4-for-21 on Detroit's just-concluded homestand. Leyland feels Cabrera, who signed a $153.3 million contract just before spring training ended, will explode soon. "I think he's going to start to relax here shortly and go on a tear," Leyland said. "He probably feels like the weight of the club is on his shoulders. We just want him to do what he can do, he doesn't need to do any more than that." (Updated 05/12/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Cabrera has shown glimpses this season of why the Tigers picked him up in the offseason, but he's only hitting .252 so far, which is far below his career average of .311. Whether it's the cold in Detroit or him getting adjusted to a new team we're not sure, but you know he will get that average up towards .300 soon enough. Unless he hits a massive cold streak, Cabrera is a dangerous hitter and a must-start Fantasy option as long as he is healthy. (Updated 05/12/2008).
Cabrera homered, tripled and drove in three runs, and Detroit beat the Yankees 8-4 Thursday night for its first three-game sweep in New York since 1966. (Updated 05/02/2008)
Advice
Cabrera also extended his hitting streak to nine games - a span in which he is hitting .303 (10-for-33) with three homers and nine RBIs. He is batting .279 with 6 homers and 22 RBIs in 28 games overall.
