Nix will play for Team USA in Beijing: The Colorado Rockies optioned infielder Jayson Nix to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday so he'd be eligible to play in the Olympics. The team recalled infielder Ian Stewart from Colorado Springs to take Nix's place. Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said Nix has been asked to be on the U.S. Olympic baseball team and had to be on an active minor league roster by Monday. "He has to clear waivers by Monday to be available to play in the Olympics," Hurdle said. "To get an opportunity to play in the Olypmics, it adds tremendous value to someone's career."
