Patterson is a free swinger, but the second baseman/outfielder is a speed-and-power talent who could get a big-time opportunity in Oakland, which is rebuilding around guys like Patterson. Patterson will have to spend at least the next 10 days in Triple-A. His best chance for at-bats in Oakland this year comes in left field right now -- where he is not real good defensively.
