MLB.com reports injured Yankees C Jorge Posada (shoulder) threw from as far as 75 feet before Thursday's game against the Rays. Manager Joe Girardi said Posada had better velocity and is "going in the right direction." Posada remains on track to rejoin the Yankees in early June. (Updated 05/15/2008).
Injury Report
Shoulder - 15-day DL. Out until at least early June (Updated - 5/13/08)
Fantasy Analysis
The Yankees and Posada will try to stay upbeat throughout the rehab process, but it is expected to carry on for a few more weeks. He was initially slated to return in mid-June, so the fact the team is now talking early June is a good sign Posada is progressing. Continue to keep the must-start Fantasy catcher reserved until further notice. (Updated 05/15/2008).
Posada took batting practice for the second time since going on the 15-day disabled list on April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis. The switch-hitter remains on target to start a light throwing program Monday. (Updated 05/10/2008)
Advice
Posada is expected to be out at least another month with this injury, which will not require surgery at least until the offseason. "It's coming around good," Posada said. Posada was hitting .302 with a homer and 11 RBIs this season before he was hurt.
