Olsen pounded by Dodgers in Marlins' loss

MIAMI GARDENS - Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley looked like the ace Wednesday night at Dolphin Stadium, and Marlins left-hander Scott Olsen and his relievers looked like something far less.

The result was a 13-1 Dodgers win, their fifth in a row, as they kept the Marlins from what would have been a record 16th victory in March/April. The 15-12 Marlins retained first place in the National League East as the Phillies and Mets lost.

"We haven't had one of those in a long time," manager Fredi Gonzalez said.

The loss was compounded when right-hander Matt Lindstrom left the game in the eighth inning with a tight lower back.

"It has been aching for about a week," said Lindstrom, who expects to see a doctor today. "I've never had a slipped disc or back injury. I just know it is fine one minute, and the next minute I can hardly move."

Billingsley (1-4, 5.20 ERA) continued his mastery over the Marlins as he won his first game of the season, boosting the Dodgers over .500 at 14-13 and improving their road record to 4-8. He allowed three hits in seven innings, striking out eight and walking four as he improved to 3-0 (1.73 ERA) against the Marlins.

The Dodgers' 15 hits were one better than Tuesday's total and improved their average four points to .281. Rafael Furcal led the assault with a career-tying five hits, improving his average to .381, up 26 points.

Blake DeWitt had four RBI including a three-run triple in the five-run eighth inning. James Loney had a three-triple in the seventh inning and Matt Kemp had three RBI.

"Their guys are pretty locked in right now," Olsen said.

The start was the shortest for Olsen (3-1, 2.70 ERA) this season. He had gone at least seven innings in his previous four starts, winning three times. This time he lasted five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.

"It was an ugly five innings," Olsen said. "My delivery was a little quick. I left a lot of pitches up in zone, and they put some good swings on them."

The bullpen gave up nine runs (six earned) on eight hits as its ERA jumped from 2.73 to 3.16. It had the second-lowest ERA in the majors coming in to the game.

"I would probably have to go back to last year to find a game like this one for the bullpen," Gonzalez said.
