Lo Duca injured, heckled

Nationals catcher Paul Lo Duca was injured while batting and heckled by fans in the seventh inning of a 4-3 loss to the Astros last night in Houston.

Lo Duca doubled over in pain after a swing. The team said he had sharp pain in his right hand and would be examined today.

As he was heading to the dugout it appeared that two fans on the first row behind the dugout yelled at him. Lo Duca, whose name appeared in the Mitchell Report, yelled back before going into the dugout. Soon, park security and a police officer came and escorted the two men from their seats.

Pirates 3, Giants 1

In Pittsburgh, Xavier Nady hit a two-run homer to spoil Barry Zito's mostly effective return to the Giants rotation. Zito (0-7) lasted five innings, giving up two runs on three hits.

Reds 9, Cubs 0

In Cincinnati, Jon Lieber (2-2) became only the second pitcher in Cubs history to give up four homers in an inning, and Joey Votto connected three times for the Reds.

AMERICAN LEAGUE Tigers 10, Red Sox 9

In Detroit, Placido Polanco hit a broken-bat, tiebreaking single with two outs in the ninth off Jonathan Papelbon as the Tigers snapped Boston's five-game winning streak.

Twins 13, White Sox 1

In Chicago, Carlos Gomez became the first Twins player to hit for the cycle since Kirby Puckett in 1986. Gomez homered off Mark Buehrle on the game's third pitch, added an RBI triple in the fifth, doubled in a run in the sixth and had an infield single in the ninth.
