Suit against new Florida Marlins ballpark to proceed: Auto dealer doesn't want bonds used - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

May 8--MIAMI -- A lawsuit filed by luxury auto dealer Norman Braman challenging a plan to finance a Florida Marlins ballpark will go forward after a judge chose Thursday not to dismiss complaints that the plan is unconstitutional and misappropriates voter-approved bond funding.

--Now that they've secured financing for a new ballpark, the Marlins want to showcase it by signing star SS Hanley Ramirez.

Andrew Miller poised and potent in Marlins' win: Young left-hander solid through six - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

May 5--MIAMI GARDENS -- If several years from now Andrew Miller has any recollection of Sunday's game, he hopes it's vague. That he helped deny Greg Maddux his 350th win notwithstanding, a hazy memory would probably mean this was just another early victory in a long, successful career.

Olsen pounded by Dodgers in Marlins' loss - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

MIAMI GARDENS - Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley looked like the ace Wednesday night at Dolphin Stadium, and Marlins left-hander Scott Olsen and his relievers looked like something far less.

Marlins pull out wallet, hand Ramirez $70M deal

By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com When you're hot, you don't analyze it, you just try to keep things rolling along.

The Marlins clearly are smoking hot right now.

Winners of seven straight, they are pacing the National League East and sit an eye-opening nine games over .500.

The chances of Josh Willingham coming off the disabled list on Tuesday seem remote.

Instead, the Marlins are leaning toward having the left fielder test his back in at least one rehab assignment.

By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com Frustration is mixed with a realization for Mike Jacobs.

On one hand, the first baseman is eager to get back into the lineup. Then again, he understands that with his ailing left quad, rushing to return may cause him to miss even more time.

Rumor Mill
It was less than a year ago the Marlins had a deal in place to acquire the left-handed hitting Jacque Jones from the Cubs. Apparently, the Marlins' front office was so overwhelmed with questions about the outfielder that it felt compelled to issue a blanket no-comment through the media relations staff. The Sun-Sentinel reports that it was peculiar, because rarely do the Marlins confirm or deny interest in anybody. (updated: 05/07/2008)
