The Royals' 10-game homestand, their longest of the season that concludes Thursday against the Tigers, is not going as planned or hoped.
The Royals have dropped five of their first seven games on this lengthy homestand. Their 7-12 Kauffman Stadium record is the worst home record in the majors.
"I can't give you any specific information other than the fact we know we need more offensive production," manager Trey Hillman said of the Royals' losing ways at home. "We don't have to be perfect with execution with runners in scoring position, specifically with no out and a runner on second base and driving in a runner with less than two out at second base. We need to be accurate and successful most of the time."
The Royals are .500 (9-9) on the road.
Hillman continues to maneuver the lineup, trying to find the correct combination to put more runs on the scoreboard.
"I think it reduces your team confidence level when you don't produce individually for the good of the club," Hillman said. "That is something you've got to get out of sooner than later. My responsibility you can do some things to massage the lineup, which we've tried to do.
"We can continue to try different options. Guys are working in the cage. Barney (hitting coach Mike Barnett) is watching as much video as any hitting coach and is working as hard as any hitting coach can work.
"It's a bottom-line business. You've got to produce. If we can get some production, it doesn't have to be everybody, but it needs to be more than one or two. If we get consistent production, we'll end up scoring more runs."
ROYALS 4, ORIOLES 0: Brian Bannister allowed just two singles in eight innings, while striking out five and walking two, to end his personal four-game losing streak. It also snapped a 12-game losing streak to Baltimore. Jose Guillen and Billy Butler each had two hits and RBIs in the victory. Joakim Soria finished off the shutout with a spotless ninth.

I must say that I've been pretty impressed by Billy Butler since he has returned from AAA. He just went yard to keep us in the game tonight...GO Royals!!
I know I've posted it before but David DeJesus looks like a natural left fielder.. last night he made another brilliant layout catch that Jose Guillen could only dream of making. I know Jose Guillen has a cannon for an arm but you don't need to throw any o
