--3B Alex Rodriguez (strained right quad) was scheduled for an MRI exam. If that goes well, the Yankees hope he'll be ready to take part in a rehab assignment in the middle of the week and return to the Yankees by the weekend. Rodriguez is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

--3B Wilson Betemit was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right hamstring after injuring it in the fourth inning while running the bases Saturday. Betemit had just returned from the DL three days before after battling eye problems. IF Alberto Gonazalez was recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace him.

--SS Derek Jeter would have batted cleanup for just the second time in his career had Sunday's game not been rained out. Manager Joe Girardi wanted to give Hideki Matsui, who'd been batting fourth, a day off and penciled in the right-handed hitting Jeter between lefties Bobby Abreu and Jason Giambi. "It's a little different," Girardi told reporters. "You hate being in situations where you stack your lefties and they have left-handed relievers."

--LHP Kei Igawa could be skipped in his next start thanks to some help from the weather. Sunday's rainout prompted the Yankees to push their rotation back a day. RHP Darrell Rasner would then likely assume the spot Thursday for Igawa, who yielded six runs in three innings in his start last week. That scenario though would leave a question mark for Friday so it's not a definite decision yet.

--RHP Darrell Rasner has given the Yankees exactly what they sought from him when they called him up to take RHP Phil Hughes' spot in the rotation. In his two starts, Rasner has gone six innings both times and posted a 3.00 ERA. More impressively, he has made his fielders comfortable playing for him. "He works quick, he throws strikes; he's fun to play behind," Derek Jeter told reporters after Rasner won his second straight start Saturday.

BY THE NUMBERS
46,000,194 -- Number of dollars the Yankees have invested in Japanese import Kei Igawa, who posted a 6.25 ERA last season and looked even worse in his first start this year.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"If he wants to yell and scream after a strikeout and dance around the mound ... My home run was in a much bigger situation ... but I didn't dance around and scream." -- Cleveland outfielder David Dellucci, who hit a game-winning homer off Joba Chamberlain one game and struck out the next, on Chamberlain's exuberance on the mound.

Whats up Yanks fans..here we go again, another subway series. It should be a good one. Even with both teams struggling right now I am sure that both teams will be amped for this series. Maybe it will jump start both teams and eventually get them on a roll. But I see you guys have a tough division, even tougher this year than usual..when you have the D ...(more)

(POLL) What do you believe to be the biggest issue with the Yankees at this time ? IMO, at this time I think the bats are way too silent. Yes the pitching has been average at best, but if they could score runs early it gives the pitchers a little boost.

Hey guys,

I am a professional handicapper and I have had many requests recently from potential clients to prove myself before they sign up for my service.  I thought that this was a fair thing to do as I have always wanted my investor to show me a good return before signing on full time.  I thought posting here was the best way to go about that.  Sports betting ...(more)

The Yankees pitching has had its ups and down this year, but with Wang and Mussina coming out start after start throwing great stuff for Wang, and good stuff from Mussina, our pitching has seemed to prove its self. Even our notorious bullpen has done good, with exception of some. But, Farnsworth has done good this year, and hopefully he'll ...(more)

First you let Boston steal your Mojo with that whole buried jersey under the stadium.  Now the Tampa Bay Rays are better than you.  Nice two hundred million dollar payroll.  Money can't buy you love or a championship since last century.  Looks like a long century to be a Yankee fan!!

OK I'm glad that Darrell Rasner has suprised everybody and that Mussina is pitching great, but the Yankees don't have a legitimate no. 5 starter right now. It's the only hole in the rotation. Kennedy is pitching awful, Hughes is hurt and sucked before he got hurt. Where ...(more)

I really wanted to post this on the main MLB message board, but I truly can't stand what goes on over there...The Red Sox and Yankees fans over there are ridiculous and there never is a decent conversati ...(more)

Absolutetly retarded that this is even an issue. As many of you guys mentioned already... K-Rod does it.Papelbon has done it for 3 years now (there is even a McFarlane action figure of Papelbon capturing  that exact -excessive celebration-pose!!!!) .

First off, in the NFL, they can do D dances, which are fine. I love Chad Johnson and Steve Smith (panthers) or Terre ...(more)

How bad are both New York teams? I have been a die hard Yankee fan since the early '70's. I recall going to Shea to watch the Yankees play when the Stadium was being renovated. There have been so many great experiences as a fan of the Yankees, 2008 has been a drag! I realize its early and we've experienced inj
