The Giants had some nice moments in the season's first few weeks. There was Tim Lincecum's hot run, Fred Lewis' emergence, John Bowker's powerful debut and Omar Vizquel's comeback.

There was youth and hope, and general manager Brian Sabean spoke just days ago about sticking around with the top teams in the division.

But now, the Giants are playing as universally expected -- not well. If not for the Padres' loss to the Cardinals on Monday, the Giants would be in a last-place tie in the NL West with San Diego, which owns the worst record in the majors.

The Giants are 17-29, and the bullpen is breaking down. The relievers, especially Tyler Walker, struggled on the home stand, and the bullpen cost the Giants in their series opener at Coors Field.

Vinnie Chulk gave up the game-deciding blow, a sixth-inning two-out double by Yorvit Torrealba, an ex-Giant. Chulk replaced starter Pat Misch, who left with a 3-2 lead.

The Giants lost their sixth in a row and 12th in 15 games.

ROCKIES 4, GIANTS 3: The Giants were up 3-1 but gave up three runs in the sixth inning. Garrett Atkins hit an RBI single off Pat Misch, and Yorvit Torrealba doubled in two runs off Vinnie Chulk, who is 0-3 with two of the losses coming in the Giants' current six-game losing streak.

With roughly two weeks left in May it appears the G-men are well on their way to their annual plummet to the cellar.   +20 GB by the break easy.

Im in a keeper league and was hoping that their are some savvy Giants fans out there that can give me the scoop on Nate Schierholz. How good is this kid and what are his chances of getting called up this season?

Seems to me from what I have looked at that this kid should be on the roster now over some of the other options the te ...(more)

The 32.4 million we tied up in Rich Aurillia, Ray Durham, Omar, Dave Roberts and Randy Winn sure seems like it could have been used better.

I know I am beating same old issue t ...(more)

Assuming Noah Lowry returns to rotation by All-Star break without any issues, could we see 6 starters after All-Star break?

I would not mind seeing this happen to preserve arms for the future that have been on DL, worked hard or just lost up to this point. How does this sound?

  1. Lincecum
  2. ...(more)

Sorry guys, I didn't quite get how fans hate Pierzynski so much. In one account, a Giant employee was said to tell Pierzynski that he ruined the Giants org. I know he had some issues with his work ethics (playing card instead of going over videos with pitchers..etc in 04) but he was quite a productive hitter for us. I dont think i fo ...(more)

While I know Zito hasn't came out of the bullpen yet, the SF Fans have been super in not giving him a precondition to live up to, this guys confidence has been torn down, we need to at least give him a chance, he still is our player.  When he regains form, we will have another assett on the Giants pitching staff, I'll be taking in Frid ...(more)

I think it was about time that McGowen stepped down as a managing partner. Yes he saved the Giants from leaving for Tampa, brought in the greatest player in the modern era, and built that awsome stadium. But he has made some poor decisions in getting talent over the past few years. I think we all regret the ...(more)

Before anyone goes absolutely bonkers, let me begin this thread with the statement that I think Bengie Molina plays hard and always give 100%.  The problem with Bengie is that his baserunning, or lack thereof, has cost the Giants three, maybe four games, this year.&nb ...(more)

Will Zito lose more games this year than Brandon Webb wins?  Assuming he stays in the starting rotation the entire year.

Seriously though. 0-8? When will Bruce Bochy and Brian Sabean pull the plug on him for real? They give him a minor slap on th wrist saying he has to work out of the bellpen, then never appears in relief and is right back int the rotation? Likely because there really is no one else to slide in there with Kevin Correa and Noah Lowr ...(more)
