--2B Eugenio Velez is a far cry from the Eugenio Velez who played so well in spring training. This Velez, who opened a season in the majors for the first time, repeatedly has had physical and mental issues. Monday, he entered as a pinch runner for 3B Joe Castillo in the ninth inning and got picked off by LHP Brian Fuentes. Velez is 8-for-14 in steal attempts, a bad percentage.
--RF Randy Winn has a 14-game hit streak after hitting a homer, his second of the year. He also singled and hit a sacrifice fly. He had two RBIs.
--LF Fred Lewis hit two triples, the first two-triple game by a Giant since SS Omar Vizquel on Sept. 3, 2006. Last year, Lewis hit for the cycle in Coors Field, and he hit well Monday. In fact, his first triple was the first extra-base hit off Rockies lefty Jorge De La Rosa this year. Lewis must show he can hit lefties to guarantee more playing time.
--LHP Pat Misch still hasn't won a big-league game through 24 appearances, counting eight starts. He was charged with three runs in 5 1/3 innings, though he left on top 3-2.
--RHP Tim Lincecum will pitch Tuesday night at Coors Field, site of his first big-league win when he pitched seven innings in an 8-3 victory. The Giants are struggling overall, but they have won six of nine games in which Lincecum has pitched. His last outing, he got a no decision despite striking out 10 in six innings and leaving with a 7-3 lead.
BY THE NUMBERS .223 -- The Giants' batting average with runners in scoring position this season through May 18, by 10 points the worst mark in the NL. The team was second from the bottom in runs, ahead of only San Diego.
QUOTE TO NOTE "It's extremely frustrating. The pitchers aren't picking up the hitters and the hitters aren't picking up the pitchers. This is a team game. Everything has to click on all cylinders to win ballgames." -- RHP Tyler Walker after the Giants lost for the 12th time in 15 games.

With the Yankees losing Posada, I would think Bengie Molina would be on their radar.
If they are interested, we should demand they take Zito and we would pay half his contract. If they are willing to take Zito, I dont care what we get in return.&nbs
MLB trade rumors reports the Giants have interest in trading for the Rangers 3rd basemen Hank Blalock. What do you guys think? Solid fielding, 30 HR pop, injured the last two years and this year but allstar before

I know pitching is not a pressing need, but NY Yankee needs a SP badly after Wang got injured. I'm not sure if Yankee will bite, but I'd love to have this guy. Wang is currently on DL and probably will not be able to pitch until next yr. He's 28 and had won 19 games in the past 2 seasons. Our pitchers are so young, perhpas getting Wang will give us more exper
Sabean, nice job getting rid of Ray and his 7.5 million. Now we just need to dump Visquel and Roberts combined 11.5 million and we will really have something.
If we can rid ourselves of these salaries and not finish in the cellar it will be a good year.
Jack Tashener, Pat Misch, Backup catcher for Molina and Castillo for Greg Dobbs, I think that is his name, backup 3rd base for Feliz and one of the Phillie catchers
This helps the Phillies out with pitching and some backup for their loss at 3rd base an
