--RHP Kyle Lohse, who was reported by manager Tony La Russa as having an "achy" shoulder, said he was good to go on Sunday. La Russa said he was happy to hear about it but still skeptical, so he had a long conversation with Lohse and the training staff before saying that Lohse, indeed, would be Sunday's starter.

--RHP Braden Looper threw 117 pitches, a career high. He has lost his last two starts.

--3B Troy Glaus collected just the 10th triple of his 11-season career.

--The loss was the first for the Cardinals against Tampa Bay. They swept a three-game interleague series in St. Petersburg, Fla., three years ago.

--The Cardinals have had 37 hits over the last three games but only five for extra bases.

BY THE NUMBERS
292 -- Career saves by RHP Jason Isringhausen before he temporarily, at least, was supplanted as the Cardinals' closer.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I'm pitching like a second grader." -- RHP Jason Isringhausen after blowing his fifth save in 16 opportunities.

I was thinking about this last week, but never remembered to post it here to see what you guys thought.  It's only the 26th, though, so I decided I'd post it anyway.

I live in GA, and there's all these articles flying around about Mark Teixera and whether or  not he should be traded.  Through all this, I've realized that there's another player who ...(more)

Is this true?  I was reading an article on prosportsdaily.com and someone said that they heard this from a reliable source.  They did not give out too many details, not even who he was traded to or what the Cards got in return.  I for one, have like Anthony Reyes and think he will be a good pitcher.  If no ...(more)

Well we made a trade. we sent Anthony Reyes to the Indians fo Minor league RHP Luis perdomo.  this isnt the type of trade i was looking for but hopfully this kid can give us some help.  we still need to make that big trade that we proabaly wont make.

Unless we pull off a trade that boosts our lineup with a solid on base guy, we have enough free swinging power hitters, and a reliever who can either close or at least get to the 9th with a lead consistently we have shot our proverbial load!

(POLL)

Who wins the series? Half the voters in the StLPD picked a split, and I don't think they're far off.

I am extremely bored at work, so here is my analysis...

Game 1: Neither of these pitchers is great, obviously. But Pineiro is ridiculously streaky, and since his last start was a debacle, I'd think he's in for a decent start tonight. McClung is good on the r ...(more)
