The Hornets hope that the inordinate homecourt advantage that has existed in the second round of the playoffs holds true for the seventh and deciding game of their series against the Spurs.

Home teams are 20-1 in the conference semifinals, including 6-0 in the Hornets-Spurs series after San Antonio's 99-80 victory in Game 6 on Thursday. Game 7 will be played Monday night in the New Orleans Arena.

"This is what you fight the whole regular season for," Hornets guard Morris Peterson said. "You want to have homecourt advantage when it counts the most."

The Hornets have averaged 85.7 points in San Antonio and 101.0 in New Orleans. The Spurs have averaged 103.0 in San Antonio and 81.7 in New Orleans.

SPURS 99, HORNETS 80: The Spurs held the Hornets to just 29 points in the second half and pulled away for the third time in as many home games in this series.

They outscored the Hornets, 20-12, in the third quarter to turn a seven-point halftime edge into a 15-point edge entering the fourth quarter.

In the three games in San Antonio, the Spurs have outscored the Hornets in every third quarter, the average score being 26.3-17.7. In New Orleans, the Hornets have outscored the Spurs in each third quarter and the average score has been 31.0-15.3.

The Spurs out-shot the Hornets 49 percent-41 percent, making 11-of-21 three-pointers compared to the Hornets' 2-for-9, and they had 28 assists, compared to the Hornets' 13.

I think you guys send your #12 out on the court and just level Robert Horry. He and Bruce Bowen are the 2 dirtiest players in the NBA. He deserves atleast a 1 game suspension for his flagrant hit on ...(more)

Hornets fans. Do yourself a favor, and don't respond to Sman. He goes around to different team pages writes love poetry about Kobe Bryant and spews his hatred and ignorance.

If you want him off your board just ignore him, because like he said, he thinks he is ...(more)

I know this does not apply to all of the fans (especially many that are on these message boards), but the fans at the Spurs game showed complete lack of class.

While the play was legal, I thought the foul from Horry was a little on the cheap side (bumping hard on an injurred back knowing it would further injure him).  ...(more)

Didn't think he'd make any all defensive team since he plays pretty poor defense, other than going for steals. He can't really d a man up, lock a guy down, but I guess the voters were impressed by his steals. Iverson led the league in steals numerous times, and he's a pretty lousy defender like Paul. Oh well, I guess Paul was 2nd fiddle to Kobe again, who was the number 1 vote g ...(more)

Chris Paul gto cheated in the MVP vote. There is no way Kobe should have won, Chris Paul should have won. He got his team to the playoffs, he helped turn the Hornets season around after last year. He averges a double-double, if the Hornets didnt have Chris Paul they would ...(more)

I told you guys that kobe would win MVP. See, I'm always right. It wasn't really that close since Paul had much more talent to work with this season, especially since Kobe's front line missed almost the entire season. I know you guys are biased and can't see too objectively, but try and imagine how N.O would've done this season if Chandler and West were injured the majority ...(more)

The Hornets are making a spectacular run through the playoffs, and hopefully, they can go up 3-1 tonight. But regardless of where they finish this season, (NBA Champs, fingers crossed) they have a weak link that needs to be addressed. Tyson Chandler, ...(more)

Sorry N.O., but in all likelihood you guys are going to be one and done come playoff time. Looks like Denver's going to have the eighth seed, and I just don't see you guys beating them in a 7 game series. Why? Well Denver's got too much firepower, plus looking at N.O roster, I don't see any clutch players or winners on the team. Stojakovic has always been a choker, Chandler, Pau ...(more)

I can see that sman1965 bothers almost every team on their message board. While trash talking is fun, just seeing this guys posts makes me fell like I am back in the 3rd grade.

I am proposing a boycott of any thread he starts, and to any posts he makes on other threads as well...

Maybe he will start to talk smart sports conversation or maybe he will jus ...(more)
