Now that the season is over, it could be said that the real season is about to begin for the Wizards. With Gilbert Arenas opting out of his contract and Antawn Jamison's contact expiring this summer, no team will be more focused on the free agent frenzy than the Wizards.

While Arenas has proved to be a superstar, he is a superstar when he is healthy, something he has not been now at the end of the season for two years running. Will the Wizards be willing to max him out -- which they have already said they intend to do -- even though there are serious questions about the health of his knee? And Arenas has yet to give the team a solid commitment that he indeed wants to return next season.

And what about Jamison? While he averaged 21.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game -- numbers that he should be able to command $10 million annually with -- he will be 32 when next season begins. Washington will have to decide whether he is worth signing to another hefty deal.

Also, considering that the Wizards bowed out in the first round of the playoffs for the third year in a row, it won't be long before the job security of coach Eddie Jordan will soon become an issue.

CAVALIERS 105, WIZARDS 88: The Wizards probably aren't calling LeBron James overrated anymore after he closed them out Friday night in Washington with a triple-double.

James, finished with 27 points, 13 rebounds and handed out 11 assists as the Cavaliers advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the third time in a row at the expense of the Wizards.

James had his triple-double by the end of the third quarter and entered the fourth quarter with 18 points, 10 assists and 10 boards.

The Wizards, coming off a big win in Cleveland two nights earlier, lost the game in the second quarter when they were outscored 21-7 in the final 7:23.

Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 23 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks. Caron Butler finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Brendan Haywood finished with 13 points and 10 boards for the Wizards.

Most of the mock drafts that I've seen have the Wizards passing on Hibbert and picking another low post man with their pick in the first round. I believe Roy's best days are ahead of him and having him play in his own back yard would be a coup for the 'Zards. Does anybody else feel the same way, or do you believe Washington ...(more)

Are the Wizards going to resign Roger Mason? I hope they do, but Uncle Ernie seemed to hedge when asked about it.  I guess the worry is that he will cost too much. I thought Roger had a very nice season. I don't understand the comment about the Wizards being crowded ...(more)

Hopefully a select few Wizard players have learned that talking trash about a team and/or a player when they have beaten you 3 straight times in the playoffs is pathetic.

Enjoy the offseason (again)

If the Washington front office is smart, they will remove the foolish cancers from the roster for next year.

I can see that sman1965 bothers almost every team on their message board. While trash talking is fun, just seeing this guys posts makes me fell like I am back in the 3rd grade.

I am proposing a boycott of any thread he starts, and to any posts he makes on other threads as well...

Maybe he will start to talk smart sports conversation or maybe he will jus ...(more)

The referees were terrible throughout game 5. It's hard to officiate a game with LeBron James in it because there is always going to be contact. But why does LeBron feel it's necessary to overreact to every time he gets touched? Because it works. He g ...(more)

Agent-0 is out.  Okay, I'm fine with that.  I wish him a fast (full) recovery and his good health again...soon.  My case is with Coach Jordan's decision(s) to let Gil get the last shots.  I didn't agree with giving him the green light for those "last second/game-winning" chance shots (ie, game 4).  Gil's missed most of the season, def ...(more)

As a Pistons fan, I  was worried about you guys after Game 2.  It's a good thing Brendan and Deshawn finally showed up.

Congrats guys, and thanks.  You've just won me Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and some cash.

P.S. What a game by

1. He can jump a lot.

2. He's tall.

3. He can chew gum and shoot free throws at the same time.

4. After picking up his dribble he can make four steps look like only three.

5. He has an extreme sense of self entitlement (which is two-fold because it trickles down to his weak act teammates).

6. He's content with a finals appearance and doesn't expect to have to win a fi ...(more)

Just for fun, I wanted thoughts on what everyone thinks Blatche's "career year" will look like sometime down the road.  I see so much in him and hope he can put it together...but my expectations are probably a lot higher than most.

I think he's eventually going to be capable of something like...

19.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 3.0bpg, 50%FG, 80%FT

(POLL)

Don't take this poll in the wrong way, it's all in fun.  I am a Wizards fan and have a good idea of how this series will end. (either a last minute collapse at home, or a blowout loss in game seven)  History tends to repeat itself.

Quesion.  Odds the Wizards win games Six and Seven.

I must say, after watching the game 5 tonight, the ref's are not calling any fouls on Cleveland. This is getting out of hand. I can understand home court advantage, but in the last 5 minutes of this game, the Wiz were aggressive with no reward on obvious calls in the paint. During the game I saw why Cleveland is one of the best rebounding teams in the league. They commit over the back (loose ...(more)
