A dominant performer at the small school level, Carvalho earned consecutive All-American honors after the 2006 and '07 seasons, despite switching from left guard to center as a senior. Blessed with a natural leverage advantage, Carvalho has good initial explosiveness and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He won't dominate the point of attack, but held up well when pitted against better talent at the Hula Bowl.

Negatives: Lack of competition is the biggest concern … Tough and quick, but not really explosive and struggles to generate movement against stronger DTs … Small hands and short arms … Only spent his senior season at center after playing guard each of his first three years.

Lettered three times in football at Kamehameha High School … first team All-League as a junior and senior … named first team All- State as a senior … played in the Hawai'i Union Builders Foundation Goodwill All-Star Game.
