Overview
Undersized, high-motor player who has dominated the competition he has faced throughout his career. A versatile player, Hout has seen action at defensive tackle and end, and plays with the strength and quickness to be considered at either position in the NFL. With his lack of prototypical size and questions about his level of competition, however, Hout will probably have to make a team as an undrafted free agent.
Analysis
Positives: Well-built frame Lacks height, but has a thick, muscular frame Good initial quickness out of his stance Instinctive player who tracks the ball and puts himself in position to make the play Versatile -- has seen action at defensive tackle and end Great strength. Reportedly has benched 225 40-plus times Good technique for a player with a small-school background Uses his hands well and shows a variety of interior pass rush moves High effort player Gives 100 percent on every snap and will pursue 20 yards down the field to make the tackle.
Negatives: Obvious size and level of competition questions May be a bit of a 'tweener at the next level Lacks the size for tackle and is more quick than fast as an edge rusher Isn't viewed as a player with a great deal of upside Originally signed with the University of Northern Colorado, but transferred after being suspended for a fight.
