The talent drive blocker continues to recover from mid-March left knee surgery that might see his draft stock slip. He originally hurt his knee in a November practice, sitting out the Pittsburgh contest. He re-aggravated the injury during East-West Shrine Game practices and could not work out for teams at the NFL Combine with what was diagnosed as torn cartilage and a left patella subluxation.

Though undersized, Sosa was a stellar performer at the demanding left tackle position, starting his final 37 contests at that position for the Scarlet Knights. He compensated for his size issues with quick feet and a very impressive wingspan that measures 83-inches.

Sosa was rated the best offensive lineman in the state of New Jersey by the McCarthy Report as a senior at Union Hill High School. He ranked as the 16th-best player in New Jersey and third-best offensive lineman by Super Prep, as he also earned first-team All-State honors from the Star Ledger as a senior.

Sosa was also a first-team All-Hudson County pick by the Star Ledger, Jersey Journal and the Hudson County Football Coaches Association. He was named the Hudson County Football Coaches Association Offensive Lineman of the Year and was a member of the NJ Super-100 squad.

On defense, Sosa recorded 111 tackles and eight sacks as a senior. He was an All-Hudson County third-team pick as a junior and did not allow a sack in two seasons as a starter. He also played basketball at Union Hill as a junior, where he averaged a double-double (12 ppg, 10 rpg).

Sosa spent the 2003 season red-shirting at Rutgers. A left ankle sprain in 2004 August camp limited him to five games as a reserve offensive tackle. He took over left offensive tackle duties in 2004, posting 54 knockdowns as the team generated 397.08 yards per game.

As a junior, Sosa earned All-Big East Conference second-team accolades. With 68 knock-downs and nine touchdown-resulting blocks to his credit, he was part of an offensive front wall that led the nation in fewest sacks allowed, as Rutgers' quarterbacks were taken down just eight times for losses of 62 yards.

In 2007, Sosa saw a string of 35 consecutive appearances snapped, when he sat out the Pittsburgh clash. He delivered 62 knockdowns in twelve games, helping the Knights as the offense averaged 449.31 yards per game.

Positives: Has a narrow frame, but there is room for much needed additional bulk without having it affect his overall quickness … Undersized, but with his power base, he plays bigger than that size indicates … quite mobile for an offensive lineman, showing good ease of movement, whether in his slide in pass protection or getting in front on pulls and traps … Handles the bigger defenders well, thanks to a strong hand punch and active hand placement … Flexible athlete with good knee bend and the ability to play with leverage … Shows good foot speed on the short area pull and is consistent in his attempts to make contact in space … Has good feet, with the ability to slide and mirror smaller defenders coming off the edge … Works hard in the training room and is more of a leader by example type, but does keep to himself after games … Fires off the snap with consistent quickness, gaining that initial step on defensive ends with no problems in attempts to lock on and control … Stays low in his stance and rolls his hips to get good movement off the snap … Shows good strength and athletic ability to be effective at the line of scrimmage or at the second level … Displays good body control and balance while on the move and makes good contact playing in space … Has no problems with cutting off linebackers to the outside or leading screens in space … His light weight and athletic ability allow him to slide and mirror quicker defenders … Compensates for a lack of ideal height with a very long wingspan (83 inches) that lets him engulf smaller defenders … Plays with good aggression and his knee bend allows him to recover when over-extending … Gets a good push off the snap and has a keen feel for taking angles getting to the second level.

Negatives: Shows adequate ability to learn and doesn't display any problems on the field, but can be a little slow to comprehend information, needing more than several reps to retain plays … Struggled with schoolwork as a freshman and sophomore and is the type that while compliant, needs to be pushed and monitored by the coaching staff … Will get his job done, but doesn't try to finish blocks or bury his opponent (needs to play until the whistle) … Has the feet and athletic ability to handle speed-rushers, but needs a better punch and more weight to handle bigger power-rushers … Has no problems with locking up defenders, but must reset his hands more quickly, especially on reach blocks (did a better job as a junior than in his senior year, but could have been overextending due to balance issues brought about by his late season knee injury) … Lacks the wide base needed to generate a solid anchor, especially vs. the bull rush … Has good quickness, but struggled to stay on edge rushers in 2007 … Might be a better fit inside at guard due to his lack of height.

Compares To: JONAS JENNINGS-ex-San Francisco-Like Jennings, Sosa is an undersized left offensive tackle who might be a better fit inside. He compensates for size issues with his long wingspan, but knee issues caused him to struggle with speed rushers as a senior. He should be ready for training camp after mid-March knee surgery, but outside of being a decent prospect to provide depth, he does not appear to be someone that can come in and contribute.
