Kearse hearing gets continuance: The Tennessean reports the DUI hearing for Titans DE Jevon Kearse was continued Monday morning and will be resumed Sept. 3 in general sessions court. Kearse, 31, a key member of the Titans' Super Bowl XXXIV team who rejoined the team during this offseason, was arrested June 22 by the Vanderbilt Police Department. He was charged with DUI and violation of the state's implied consent law for refusing to take the breath test. The Titans open training camp July 25. The team's first regular-season game is Sept. 7 against Jacksonville. (Updated 07/15/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Keep an eye on what develops with Kearse and if he will face any legal or disciplinary action for this alleged incident. As for his status on the field, Kearse has the potential for a high sack total but not much else. He'll be a reserve Fantasy DL in 2008 worth a late-round flier in deeper drafts. WR Jevon Kearse was giddy when he signed with the Titans in March after his four-year hiatus in Philadelphia. The Titans can't count on having the same player they had the first time around from 1999-2003 when he was Defensive Rookie of the Year, and a perennial Pro Bowl-caliber player. But the Titans do believe they can rejuvenate Kearse by reuniting him with defensive line coach Jim Washburn, who emphasizes an up-the-field pass rushing system. The hope is that Washburn can squeeze some life out of the 31-year-old now entering his 10th NFL season. Kearse has his sights set on being an every-down defensive end in the rotation, but the Titans would probably be satisfied if he can give them some consistent pressure in passing situations opposite Pro Bowl right end Kyle Vanden Bosch. Of course, if that is the case, the Titans will have to have someone from among rookie William Hayes, veterans Bryce Fisher, Dave Ball, Sean Conover and Jacob Ford step up to complement Kearse. 07/17/2008
