After the Chicago Sun-Times reported that a league source said representatives for Bears LB Brian Urlacher asked the club for permission to seek a trade, and another source reported that Urlacher was considering retirement because of pain from neck and back injuries, Urlacher told the Chicago Tribune that the other paper's story is way off base. "I never said that I was going to quit," Urlacher told the Tribune. "That's just a gossip column. Reports like that is why I choose not to speak to the media." Urlacher said that the Bears offered to extend him one more year and he's thinking about it. He added that he will not miss training camp and doesn't want to leave Chicago via trade. (Updated 04/18/2008).
Injury Report
Neck - Probable for the start of 2008 training camp (Updated - 2/8/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Urlacher led the team with 123 tackles (92 solo) with five sacks, two fumble recoveries, 12 passes defensed and five interceptions including one returned for a touchdown. He finished as the second-best Fantasy LB in 2007 in leagues that reward tackles. He certainly regained his form (no sacks, three INTs in 2006) and is becoming a better defender against the pass. Continue to expect strong numbers from Urlacher, so long as he's playing in Chicago, making him a No. 1 Fantasy LB in 2008. (Updated 04/18/2008).
