AZCardinals.com reports that starting QB Matt Leinart's broken collarbone is still healing, but he expects to be ready for training camp this summer. Leinart is able to take part in the club's offseason workout program. "I wouldn't say I am 100 percent but I feel great," Leinart said. "I have been throwing 100 percent. I think with the bone still mending and healing, it will probably take all summer, but I am good to go. I don't have to take a hit until August so I still have four months to keep getting stronger." (Updated 03/26/2008).
Injury Report
Collarbone - Probable for the start of 2008 training camp (Updated - 3/26/08)
Fantasy Analysis
That broken collarbone ended Matt Leinart's sophomore season after five games, giving him 647 passing yards on 60-of-112 passing (53.6 pct.) with two touchdowns, four interceptions and 42 rush yards. Leinart lost playing time in spurts starting in Week 3 when he was healthy when the Cardinals inserted Kurt Warner to play when they were behind, costing Leinart reps and stats. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has already stated that if healthy, Leinart will enter training camp as his starting quarterback. But that doesn't mean that Kurt Warner won't make surprise guest appearances again in 2008 games. Because Leinart is expected to start and see more reps, he's the more reliable Fantasy option of the two, but he's no better than a No. 2 Fantasy QB next season so long as Warner is hanging over his head and taking reps. (Updated 03/26/2008).
QB Matt Leinart has been dogged by the label that he's too "Hollywood" to fulfill his potential. Recent photos showing him partying were damaging to his public reputation, but coach Ken Whisenhunt said he's pleased with Leinart's offseason work. "I've seen him up here (at the team facility) at times when he didn't have to be," Whisenhunt said, "going through tape, looking at last year, looking at technique, looking at opponents. ... You never know if they get it," he said, "but he has sure shown indications that he's committed and wants to be a good player." 05/08/2008
