The Chiefs reportedly have traded Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to the Vikings. Citing a source, the Kansas City Star reported that Allen went to Minnesota on Tuesday night to sign a six-year contract worth just under $74 million with more than $31 million guaranteed, the most ever for a defensive player. The Chiefs are expected to get the Vikings' first-round pick (No. 17) and both the Vikings' third-round selections (73rd and 82nd). It would give the Chiefs six picks in the first 82 players in this weekend's draft and 13 total. NFL Network also confirms the trade. Allen led the NFL last season with 15 1/2 sacks. Allen ended 2007 with 55 tackles, 15.5 sacks (a career-high), 10 passes defensed and three forced fumbles in 14 games (he was suspended for two games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy). Will he do as well with the Vikings? We think he'll actually exceed many of these numbers thanks to the Vikings' incredible DT tandem (Kevin Williams and Pat Williams), along with their already talented DE corps.
