For Steven Jackson, 2007 was a tale of two halves. In the first half of the season, Jackson got off to a slow start and then tore his groin muscle that shelved him for four games. Though he had a 100-yard game in Week 3 at Tampa Bay, Jackson's first three games were unmitigated disasters: 233 yards on 69 carries (3.4 avg.) and 57 yards on eight catches (7.1 avg.) with no touchdowns. In Week 8, Jackson returned and played on a limited basis vs. Cleveland, then made the start in every game the rest of the way, scoring in all but three games. Thanks to his strong finish, Jackson had 1,002 yards on 237 carries (4.2 avg.) with five rush TDs, adding 271 yards on 38 catches (7.1 avg.) with a receiving touchdown. (Updated 02/07/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Jackson's quality second half proved to us that when he's healthy he can be a dominant Fantasy running back. While the Rams' offensive line was a wreck in 2007, they should address that spot fully this offseason, setting up the table for Jackson to be a stat machine in 2008. Adding to the intrigue is that Jackson enters 2008 in a contract year, meaning that he'll be a free agent after the season if the Rams don't sign him to an extension first (a franchise tag is probably in his future). It all adds up to us liking Jackson as a No. 1 Fantasy RB well worth picking between fifth and eighth overall in drafts this summer. (Updated 02/07/2008).
