OT Shane Olivea officially signed with the Giants after a four-game suspension for missing a drug test was pulled back by the NFL earlier this month when Olivea explained he was at his doctor's office that day for treatment of drug abuse. "We worked him out the other day, he is in outstanding shape, and he is very hungry, very anxious to play," coach Tom Coughlin said. "I think there is some pride involved. There is definitely some motivation there." The Giants were considered thin at the position behind starters David Diehl and Kareem McKenzie.
