The Bengals' first offseason practice Tuesday had a familiar look with a fleet-footed Chris Perry on the field. The Bengals' first-round draft pick in 2004, Perry had not stepped foot on a football field as an active player since fracturing and dislocating his right ankle in a November 2006 game at Cleveland. "You go through things for a reason," Perry said in the Cincinnati Enquirer. "It makes me more appreciative of a sport I am blessed to play as long as I can. Playing football - that's what I do. It's what I love, being out there with the guys." (Updated 05/14/2008).
Injury Report
Leg - Questionable for the start of 2008 training camp (Updated - 3/26/08)
Fantasy Analysis
The Bengals are deep at tailback. In addition to Rudi Johnson and Perry, they have Kenny Watson (whose 763 rushing yards and seven touchdowns led the team in 2007) and DeDe Dorsey (who had an 8.7-yard average on 21 attempts). They, too, were on the field Tuesday. Perry will compete for playing time but has minimal Fantasy value at this time. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option in 2008 if he is guaranteed a few carries each week. (Updated 05/14/2008).
RB Chris Perry looks to be fully recovered from a serious ankle injury suffered 18 months ago against the Cleveland Browns. Perry, entering his fifth season, was a first-round pick in 2004 but never became the explosive complement to Rudi Johnson the Bengals had expected. He fractured and dislocated his right ankle in November 2006. Perry believes he'll prove capable of handling the wear and tear of daily practice sessions before training camp hits. 05/14/2008
