Colts President Bill Polian said Thursday he does not expect Defensive Player of the Year Bob Sanders to be ready to start training camp in July. Sanders had offseason shoulder surgery for the second straight year and showed up at the Super Bowl with his right arm in a sling. Last year, Sanders had surgery on his left shoulder and didn't begin practicing until Aug. 22 -- after the Colts returned from training camp in Terre Haute. He might do the same this year. "That's very likely," Polian said, acknowledging Sanders is likely to again start training camp on the physically unable to perform list. (Updated 02/14/2008).
Injury Report
Shoulder - Questionable for the start of 2008 training camp (Updated - 2/14/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Sanders was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year, leading the Colts with 96 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, six defensed passes, one fumble recovered and two interceptions. He started 15 games at strong safety and had three double-digit tackle outings. For his play this year, Sanders was rewarded with a five-year contract extension for $37.5 million with $20 million guaranteed, which will keep him in Indy through 2012. Sanders played like a No. 1 DB in IDP leagues this year. The best thing was the oft-injured DB stayed healthy, though there's promise he'll do that in 2008. Consider Sanders a No. 1 option again in 2008 and hope he can get healthy and duplicate his performance of 2007. (Updated 02/14/2008).
