Hackett, Muhammad still out Wed.: Carolina receivers D.J. Hackett, Muhsin Muhammad and Ryne Robinson are still sidelined in practice as of Wednesday, reports the team's official website. While Robinson and Harris can lean on previous seasons as Panthers to aid in their preparation, Hackett can only refer back to his five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, as he joined the Panthers as an unrestricted free agent in March. Coach John Fox isn't concerned about the amount of time that Hackett has missed, however. "The key is he has caught passes from a lot of good quarterbacks, not to take anything away from the timing that you develop with your own quarterback," Fox said. "I'd prefer that he be out there and so would he. The reality is he hasn't been. But we saw quite a bit of him in the (organized team activities) and at camp before the injury. We're just hoping to get him back out there as soon as possible." Fox hopes that could be by next week. "Right now, my hope is to get a lot of those guys back on Monday," Fox said. "Whether that comes to reality or not, I don't know yet; that's up to our medical people."

Fantasy Analysis

Hackett sounds like he won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Redskins and the same goes for Muhammad and Robinson. With Steve Smith suspended, Hackett is projected to start the opening week of the season so hopefully he'll be healthy enough for that to happen. We expect he should be and that makes him a decent sleeper for a late-round pick. He can be injury prone, as we've seen, and that does limit his value. Muhammad took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Brian Dawkins in the team's last preseason game but was OK. He's actually out with a ribs issue. He has the makings of a moderate-catch, low-yardage receiver with a handful of touchdowns in 2008. He's best served as a reserve Fantasy receiver worth a late-round pick in drafts.Robinson might get involved on offense a little bit more in 2008, but he's expected to still do most of his work on special teams. Thus, keep him out of Fantasy draft plans, even when healthy.
